I'm currently away from home and remotely logging into my home PC and a couple of times have needed to reboot the remote system. I can't see an easy way to check if an MVP is on and in use other than running the firewall status screen. A bit like 'show status' of the recording service.

What would be handy would be an "MVP Status" program or 'right click' option on gbpvr in the system tray where I could see if they are connected, if they are playing a recording and how long since a keypress on the remote. Really nice, but probably only available on a custom dongle would be the ability to remotely put an MVP into 'standby'.

None essential, but for me would be 'nice to have'.

Martin ...you need the simple but very effective plugin

MVPTrayIcon

There may be other plugin(s) that also do this (I vaguely remember one), but this one ONLY does this and is very simple and uncluttered as a result.

I have tied mvptrayicon and like it very much. I cannot get it to work with ver 97. So can you tell me an alternative that works with 97 that you can reccommend?

thanks for your time

It works fine for me in the last version, so there must be something else that's causing it not to function.

@Tobyo
There are two issues that seem to be missing in the description on the WIKI:

a) You must run the GBPVR service on an local machine account
b) In the GBPVR service settings you must allow that service to interact with the desktop.

I can't recomend it simply because I have never used it..so I don't know...BUT

MVP Tray Icon (1.0.5) works beautifully with the latest 97.13. It's a really nice utility if all you want is a simple indicator. [EDIT]Ooops, I THOUGHT that a more feature rich alternative for the MVP Tray Icon was MrSlimm's util SlimmGBPVR, however it appears this is not the case, sorry to mislead you!!

Thanks all - mvptrayicon it is then....

One of these days I'll read the wiki from one end to the other. Is it available as a compressed download for offline perusal?

the problem was I'm not running under local machine acount, but a user. I do this so my MVP can see the raid 5 drives in my LINUX box that contain home video, music and pic for the whole house. But I did try it under local machine account and it came up right away. I don't recall having this issue in GB-PVR ver 96. I'll keep hoping someday it will run under a system user. It is very nice and helps me keep an eye on the kids and what they'er watching.

Thanks PZ and everyone for the help
