I have a server which runs NPVR with 2 x HDhomerun tuners I do all my recording and storage on this server. I also have a Kodi Media Center with 2 x avermedia PCIe tuners. I use these avermedia tuners for live TV only on that media center as it functions a whole lot better doing it locally.

It would be great if the NPVR systems could see each other and things like recording directories, recording schedule, and guide data be shared/synchronised. I suppose the end result I would want is that the guide, recording schedule, and recording directory be shared but the default tuner and tuner buffer directory for each system can be changed.

Why wouldn't you just use the 2 hd home runs in nextpvr? There's only 3 frequencies in NZ, so you can record off of it with 1.5 hd home runs.

I would if it worked, frequent garbled screen and no pause, ff, rew, step back, forward without Kodi losing it and freezing. Hence the use of the local NextPVR tuners which helped a bit. I have been testing ServerWMC on a VM and it is flawless so might stick with that unless Kodi/NextPVR update sorts things out. Having not used NextPVR for long and not having the time to spend investigating what is wrong I would like something that can be setup and works without too much work, hence ServerWMC.

I found the HDHomeRun rock solid. I moved from a server with 4 PCI tuners to a gigabyte brix and a hdhomerun and that was fine. I then moved recording to a VMware Guest.

How was the hdhomerun connected to the network? I was using powerline with recordings going back to a server (when using the brix) and did have some issues with that until I sent the video files to a local drive and transferred them overnight.

Perhaps that might be a similar issue to yours?

I believe the HDhomeruns are fine. The house is hard wired into a 24G port wire speed switch. NextPVR was running on a Windows 7 VM (on SSD) and that interfaced via Kodi to 3 x PC's running Windows 8.1, with Kodi, Titan. It played live tv but sometimes would stop after a couple of hours. Now removing NextPVR and using ServerWMC instead I have no issues on the same Windows 7 VM. It works well and Windows Home Server connector TV archive moves the files at low speed to the server. Live TV, recorded files and even 40GB Bluray images play flawlessly on all PC's.
