Hi,
n_s_simpson Wrote:Firstly the Dbox source has disapeared from the capture sources tab and it doesn't show as an option to add. Is there a way of getting GBPvr to look in different locations for plugins?
are you sure that you don't have also deleted the file "DboxRecorder.dll" from the plugins directory? If you can confirm that it is still there, zip and attach your logfiles again, please.

Hi Sub

Where do I put those files? Within the same folder as the ggrab.exe and cygwin1.dll folder?

I dont know what ggrab.exe and cygwin1.dll are used for, or where they should be placed.

The files I mentioned should only be in the main GB-PVR directory. In the past I've seen some users have managed to copy them (or worse, old versions) into their plugins directory. This will cause problems, particularly if they're old versions.

Hi sub and alibert... I have to go to work now but will be on the case tonight.

The DboxRecorder.dll file is still in the plugins directory. The option to add a Dbox disappeared after I moved the ggrab.exe and cygwin1.dll into another folder.

I'll try some other bits tonight and let you both know. I'll be after about 8:30 due to my little boy not going to bed until then.

The only reason that it doesn't appear in the list could be that you're using an outdated gbpvrbackendcommon.dll. There was a bug some time ago that prevented external recording sources from showing up in the config app.
If you want to, I can have a closer look if you post your logfiles.

By the way, I would suggest to install gbpvr again and choose "repair" in the wizard.

Hi Alibert... I'm at work now but was thinking about a few things while driving.

Firstly I also moved the backup dll files to another folder. Since the log seems to be searching for those could that be the reason it's stopped working?

Also, one of the DboxRecorder.dll files didn't show the Dbox in the source list. When I updated to another one it worked. However, when I moved all the backup files and other files mentioned above from the plugins folder I did not alter the DboxRecorder.dll, it's still the up-to-date one. I tried another one just in case but it didn't make any difference.

If it is an outdated gbpvrbackendcommon.dll why did it work and now it doesn't? Was it a now and again error? Where can I get an updated version of this dll file?

What will the repair wizard do? Will I then need to add all the plugins again?

GBPVR won't search for plugins if they can't be found in the plugins-directory. What are the logs exactly saying?

The dboxrecorder.dll-files do not make themselves visible in the config-application. They are created by gbpvr, or, in this case, by the config.exe application. If they don't get listed in the recording sources there are three possibilities:
a. you're using an old dboxrecorder.dll plugin that was compiled against .NET 1.1.
b. you're using the an old gbpvr-component, the dbox recorder plugin requires gbpvr v0.97.7 and above, as quoted at the wiki.
c. something else I'm not aware of at the moment without the logfiles.

Which version of gbpvr do you have installed?

As far as I know the plugins folder won't be touched by the installation, but I think in your case I would recommend to do a 'fresh' install of gbpvr (including cleaning up your /devnz/gbpvr/ folder), with adding all of your used plugins again later.

Hi Alibert...

I will try all the DboxRecorder.dll's tonight as I think I have got two that don't work (probably because the were compiled using .net 1.1 as you stated).

I think I will be able to get it working again.

I am using the latest version of GBPvr.

I'll let you know tonight and add the log files if Live TV still doesn't work.

Could you attach the latest DboxRecorder.dll file so I can be sure I'm using the latest one?

If it doesn't work after that I will reinstall it but I'd like to not go down this route unless absolutely necessary.

PS

I've got to say that I am hugely impressed by the amount of support you guys are giving. Thank you.

Hi Alibert...

Just to let you know that it was me being stupid I was using the wrong DboxRecorder.dll. It's now working.

Not sure about my original problem though regarding live TV issue.

I'll check later tonight and let you know and post logs if necessary.

Hi Everyone

Update - it all seems to be working ish.

The Live TV option now works for some reason. Maybe it's since I've tided the plugins folder up and made sure I'm using all the up-to-date files.

Changing channels is slow but I expected that.

Problem (which I expect has always been there) is that sometimes the channel doesn't seem to start correctly (usually when I try and change channels on the MediaMVP remote from another channel already running). When it doesn't there is a variety of issues such as sound but semi loaded (frozen) image on screen. The picture is broken up and seems to simply run in a loop of the original channel and never actually loads (although the Dbox's channel has changed). Although in all senarios the actual program hasn't crashed so I can get back to the main menu or try and move channels again to see if it works 2nd, 3rd, etc time round.

Sometimes the up and down channel options on the remote don't work at all and so I have to go back to the EPG to select another channel.

I've added all the logs for you to look at.

Nearly there now Smile I'll write a tutorial of everything I did to get it to work (when it does work Big Grin) if you like.

Thanks

Nick
