Hi,

when I try to watch tv on my pc with GB-PVR the images/video is very bad quality. It flickers and doesn't run smooth at all. Sound is ok in comparing with video. I've read most of the topic in here, but nothing fixed my problem.

TA,

If you want help for a problem like this you need give some more info:
What system specs
livetv or recordings problems or both,
what mpegdecoder are you using
all other settings that could have an impact.

As HTV mentioned, we need more info in order to help you (system specs, decoders & renderers used, display type and interconnection type, and better explanation of fault symptoms).

If the flicker is showing up as complete screen freezes, then this could be CPU hitting 100% or renderer problem or video decoder (Nero decoder is prone to this). Check CPU utilisation, try different video decoder and render combinations.

If the flicker is only seen on moving objects, then you may have a de-interlacing problem or quartz.dll problem. Search this forum for deinterlacing and quartz.dll information.

If you are seeing mild flicker on moving objects, then the display refresh frequency may be different to the video frame-rate (temporal-rate conversion issue). Make sure the display device is the "primary display" in the video card configuration and the refresh rate is an exact multiple of the video frame-rate.

If the picture quality is poor, there are lots of tuning tips on the forum. If your display is a normal CRT TV (SDTV), then this is a starting point:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16157
(in particular post 8 in that thread).
If your display is a LCD TV (HDTV), then use DVI/VGA interconnection and set screen resolution to match the physical pixel count on the screen.

That should be enough to get you started Smile
