I just updated gbpvr to version 9713. I sort of screwed up the update and I seem to have not saved the correct files in order to maintain settings. I have everything except the references to the recordings that we have collected.

What do I need to update so that gbpvr will see all of our recent recordings?

Thanks

If the upgrade has failed for some reason, the easiest way to fix it is uninstalling v0.97.13, deleting the GB-PVR directory, reinstalling the old version you were previously running, then restoring the config.xml/gbpvr.mdb files you backed up prior to trying the upgrade. This will get you back to the state you were in before the upgrade.

Thanks Sub
Actually, v0.97.13 works great. It is when I copy config.xml and gbpvr.mdb back into the GB-PVR directory that everything goes downhill.

Is there a trick to restoring these files that I am missing?

I went back to the old version and replaced the config.xml/gbpvr.mdb and it would appear that either I don't know how to restore the files or they are corrupted.

You're not supposed to copy those back into the directory. Those files are only backed up in case you need to go back to the old version. These files are not portable between releases. Usually your recordings etc are automatically retained during an upgrade.

Well, as things are at this point, I have probably corrupted the config and mdb files because at one point during my goofing around I think that I moved them instead of copying. Oops.
I am up and running but I have lost the references to my recordings. While I can link to them via the video library path, I lose the cool meta data describing the shows.
Is there a way that I can recover?

If you're lucky, you'll be able to use the 'import recordings' button in the config app, and import the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\recordings-dump.xml. If this file doesnt exist, then you're on your own I'm afraid...though if you search the forums, you'll find discussion or utilities about how people have resolved these sorts of problems in past (not supported by me though).

if you use a NTFS drive to store your recordings, you can use a utility called i think 'recover recordings' to restore them as the info would be stored in a alternate stream inside each movie file...Smile
[search for 'recover recordings' and you should find lots of help..]

Thanks Sub. I really appreciate your help and quick response. I will search around to see if I can find the meta-data. I am pretty much hosed for now.
