What speed are people seeing when changing channels from a client when watching live tv. I am getting approx 10-12 secs, I assume this is roughly what to expect on dvb-t after the buffering and network oveload.

wirelessly B - (which isnt working quite well enough for me) 30 seconds..

Wirelessly G - (working pretty well...) bout 10 seconds.

Network 100Mb - (8 seconds)

my guess is if the system is setup to buffer 64Mb and has a live TV delay of 6 seconds (default), the time it takes to fill 64Mb buffer + 6 seconds is the time required to see the effective channel change.... but would be curious as to other ppls reponses as well... anyone have 1Gb Network with it, or FirewireNetwork?

It doesnt have a 64Mb buffer. I dont know where you got that from. It (by default) reads 49k chunks of data from the server with each read, but other than that its the same as running timeshift mode locally on the server.

It should be very similar to timeshift mode when running locally on the server.

Timeshift mode has never been great with DVB, with the main problem being the time added by the mux filter before it'll start producing the MPEG data to be written to the file.

That said, the time varies quite a bit between the different mux filters. The Cyberlink mux takes at least 5 seconds to start producing data. The DVR-MS mux is the fastest, trimming two or three seconds off (you'd need to switch to the file sharing client mode to test this mux). The ATI mux is somewhere in between the two.

Thanks all, I could only get the cyberlink mux to work over the network. I know you just added server/client set up it would be nice to have 1 tuner locally for fast tuner changing and the rest of the tv cards on a server for recording.

The Cyberlink and ATI muxes should work in Streaming mode. To use the DVR-MS mux, you need to be using the File Sharing mode.

I am considering that for a future release, but I'm not going tackle it just yet. It would require quite a few changes.
