Is there anyway to put addeposide in a debug mode? Maybe so it logs it decision points or why it failed? I have a few files it will not rename and I'd like to track down what is going on.

i dont want to have multiple links and hosts to keep track of, so i have sent you a pm with a private link. by the way, it might have been better to pm me with this request....
First off, thanks for all the work so far. The program seems to be doing its job pretty well.
I have come across something weird and didn't see it mentioned elsewhere in the forum. Thus far, the few trial recordings I've done have yielded strange characters at the beginning and the end of each file name.
like:
ôThe Crow-(2006-09-16)ö.mpg
or
ôMAD TV-(2006-09-17)ö.mpg
It appears that it is always the same 2 odd characters that show up
(the "o" with the triangle above it is at the beginning, and the "o" with the 2 dots above it is at the end.)
I started off with a clean install of the newest GB 2 days ago (9808) and installed AddEpisode right after I configured my tv card and Zap2It.
any ideas for the funky characters?

yup, you got it. it only works on a file with the original gbpvr naming configuration. this is because it pulls some of the renaming info straight from the filename for efficiency. i never indended it to be a command line utility, but i may change that for the next release.
damn... i have no idea where those characters are coming from, there is no way addepisode would be adding them in. the only way i could see them getting in is if it is reading the quotes as those characters. try changing your command to this...
by the way, you dont need the conditional seperator notation, {[conditional seperator]}, with your command because the only thing that may not exist is the episode, so it could be...
BOOM! it worked. I quickly changed my commend in the postproc file
addepisode %1 {show}-{episode}({year}-{month}-{day})
and did a trial record that was ending in 3 minutes (so don't judge me for what show it was...lol)
and it came out
SpongeBob SquarePants-Sleepy Time; Suds(2006-09-17).mpg
don't know what did it, but thanks. must have been those quotes after all.

I picked a great day to update to 98.8
The forum is down most of the time, and the wiki is a complete train-wreck!

I understand, and sorry about the request for a temporary attachment if it was out of line.
PS, I didnât realize my request was posted (gave an error when I hit submit) until after I had downloaded it from the wiki, and replied to your pm.
