black screen for recordings, 1 channel only

I did a search, but none of the threads I found seemed to be the same problem.

the last few days, every time something records on channel 9 (fox) it only records a black screen and no sound.
the length is fine, and all other channels (so far) work fine.
live TV works fine.
it last recorded on that station a few hours ago.
it is scheduled to record again in a couple hours, so I will save logs after that one.

any ideas??

Is that through the tuner, or via a set top box with svideo/composite?

when I switched the tuner cards to another PC for the server, all the sound skipping problems from before were gone.
maybe a conflict with the cards and motherboard chipset??

it just finished recording again on that channel
the recording was black again.
it is the same on both tuners.

Does the Tuning Assistant show you the correct picture for this channel?

yes, tuning assistant shows a good picture.

If the tuning assistant shows a good picture for that channel, then it sounds like you dont have to correct channel number entered next to that channel in your capture source settings. Set it to what ever channel number the tuning assistant says that channel is.

it says it is right in the capture sources, and the channels list in config.
just for kicks I deleted all the channels and am reloading via EPG.
would live TV still work if it was a wrong channel number??

after reloading all the channels, I recorded a few mins of that channel while watching it live on the other tuner.
both worked.

next scheduled recording is tommorrow evening.
I will try it then
