Is it absolutely needed to install the software that comes with the MVP? I ask this because I recently reformated my HD and reinstalled GBPVR but no Hauppauge junk and now, almost always, my videos, photos and even the menu are almost greyish in color. True color is not working. At times, when I choose a different MVP skin for the MVP in config, the color comes back but when the unit is turned off, I'm back to the greyish color again.

I don't think it's required, I have never installed the Hauppauge software on my machine and the MVP is working great.

It is not required to install the Hauppauge software! SUB sometimes recommends to do so in order to test the MVP separately from GBPVR, hence just confirms its functioning. The color isue could be a dongle.bin thing. which version of GBPVR are you running and which dongle.bin?

I have the latest version of GBPVR (98.8) and am using the only bin included with this version. It was only working well with the default MVP skin but now it's the same no matter what skin I use. Connections are good and tight and video and audio come across clean and fine with the exception of the color. I guess the unit could be going south too.

The defaults are usually fine, but its possible you might need to run the Hauppauge MVP software briefly so you can access the MVP settings screen for setting the composite/svideo NTSC/PAL settings.

That may be so but I'm sure that shortly after my format and reinstall the MVP was working fine and it wasn't until the most recent version that this started. I'll install the lastest MVP software and check it out.
Thanks

Another possbility. If you changed the MVP screen positions in the config file, this could possible account for it. The offset positions and width need to be even numbers or you can get problems with colour.

I didn't touch the file at all and can't see where there were any changes. I'm going to try the latest file on Hauppauge's site and see if that helps.
Again, thanks

Installed the latest MVP software and made sure there are no problems between my system and the MVP. It worked fine.
Then I stopped the MVP service, made sure the GPR service was started and all I get is that it's try to 'contact mediamvp bootserver'. Config shows MPV settings are set to 1 unit. I'm missing something and can't figure what it is. Maybe a repair install is in order. If there is something I'm overlooking, please hit me and bring it to my attention please.

To add to all the above, it appears that disconnecting the MVP causes a number of DW20.exe's to populate my Task Manager. Really don't understand why that is but each time I disconnect it, 6 to 8 of them show up and need to be killed. Haven't yet found a way to stop them and their babies for starting up. I don't know how it's related but google is my friend and I'll hunt for more info.
