Version 96.12

The only way I can get the MVP to connect over the network is by starting up the Hauppauge Software and after the application is installed to the MVP I stop the Hauppauge processes and the GBPVR Server process is recognized and isntalled.

I am using a cross-over cable.

Regards,

Gary

You probably need a DHCP server on your machine. The Hauppauge server provides one. GB-PVR doesnt. Most people have home internet router that provides this functionality.

The Hauppauge install guide states that a dhcp server is not required with a cross-over cable; that the MVP scans the machines on the surrounding subnet for the expected service ports.

Regardless, I'll try installing a dhcp server.

Thanks.

Although a router may work best, I have the MPV connected by a x-over cable, and it works fine. So if there is a way around the connection problem without using a router that would be great.

Is there an easy to configure DHCP server that can be used?

Many thanks

bubblehelp, I'm no expert but the mvpmc people have instructions on how to set up a DHCP server that recognises the MVP MAC address and assigns an IP to it.

The instructions have a dead link under point 3 for obtaining the DHCP server software but the software can still be obtained by drilling into the Weird Solutions web site.

I had a quick look and run through of these instructions but they were non-trivial. Then thankfully I got GB-PVR working so did not have to worry about mvpmc Smile

I found an open source, windows port of dhcpd that I will give a try.

http://udhcp.busybox.net/source/dhcpd-win-0.8.25.tgz

Thank you for the assistance.

Respectfully,

Gary
