Are you running sp2? Guess what it has? powercfg.exe Big Grin

so, now we create two bat files, one called setnightmode.bat, and one called setdaymode.bat

setnightmode.bat contains the following file:
Code:
powercfg /change /hibernate-timeout-ac 3
and setdaymode.bat contains:
Code:
powercfg /change /hibernate-timeout-ac 0

Now, you need to be set up a scheduled task in windows, one to run at 11 pm that calls setnightmode.bat, and one that is run at 06.00 a.m. every day and runs setdaymode.bat. Make sure the computer run the tasks from an admin account, and that "wake machine" is chosen for the morning task.

Mission accomplished. Tell me if it works Wink

i don't currently have sp2 installed but i will try copying the exe file from my notebook. i have done this with taskkill.exe and it works by only copying the win32 binary...maybe the powercfg will also work. thanks for all of your help and suggestions.

while i'm sure this will probably work, i would still like to see something like this in gbpvr (maybe other people would too) because it has the potential to save us all a lot of money (would reduce my htpc up-time by 50%).
