Ok, thanks for the help. At least we have this documented now in case someone else has the same problem.

I've been thinking of adding a second card anyway. What would be the one that is most compatible with your software....example.....what card do you use?

With a second card would I be able to play DVDs or will the PVR350 interfere? If I had two cards would is it possible to configure it to use the other card when playing DVDs?

Thanks again for the help. Great software! Smile

Its already been documented a whole heap of times in the forums. If done a forum search for 'pvr350 DVD' you would have found a lot of threads that stated exactly this.

These days I just recommend people use the TV out feature on a regular video card (nvidia, ATI etc).

I suspect you might need to try a newer version of WinDVD. '4' is pretty old.

Its failing to accept the directory, so falls back to the default DVD volume. My guess was that it related to the old version of the DVD filters not coping with this. Its only a guess though, so I could easily be wrong.

sub Wrote:What exactly is your directory structure?

On my setup I have C:\DVDs\AceVentura\VIDEO_TS containing the IFO/VOB files. When I use the Video Library and browse to C:\DVDs\AceVenturait detects the VIDEO_TS subdirectory and displays the this fake .dvd item for you to play.

This is working for my fine with 98.08b for _most_ DVD folders. It looks like some don't rip up with video_ts folders but just dump everything in the root directory? I need to fiddle with that I guess. XDVD played them fine when I was using the 350 TV out. I suppose it is easy to figure out what goes where...

One questions about output format: I'm using 1284x1028 via VGA to my 16:9 (only) LCD TV. It really only does 16:9, regular TV gets stretched, it doesn't do 4:3.

DVDs played with the video library are always (so far) long and thin- wide with bars at top and bottom. I have GBPVR set to expect 16:9 display, is this how it should be?

thanks-

I am very new to this so please be nice.
I have the Video_VTS folder when I select it to play it does not have a .dvd extension on it, when I select it to play it goes to a dark screen and never returns like the rest of the folks described on this thread.
I am running XP SP2 and v098.1 I have a 150MCE and the 2005 MCE remote.
