psycik Wrote:tkgafs, did you only start having this on upgrade to 98.8?? And what were you on before??

yes only since the upgrade to 98.8 I was on the latest of the 97.?? range before that without problems

I suspect its something to do with the bug which has a double screen draw when you exit a plugin on the mvp

the other thing that happens now is that you cannot leave the plugin sitting on the playlist screen whenever the screensaver kicks in seems to send it back to library screen when you re-activate the plugin by pressing the go button

I have tried blue, contourhc and the new community skins they all behave in the same way

here is an extract from the gbpvr.exe.log

tkgafs, I did some fairly extensive testing in the weekend and found that the notification I was getting for the end of the song (and playlist) has stopped working. Means I don't know that the music has finished to start a new random playlist....

I'll trying figuring out a new solution, but I think your work around might be the solution....sorry....

Strange situation. On my server PC and the MVP it works fine. I only have the problem with the PC Client (see my earlier post). I now realise that there is a difference in installations. The PC server is release 9808, the PC client is release 9808b. I do not know if that can explain the difference in behaviour. According to the release note of the second 9808 release I can't explain, but you know occasionally these software guys forget to document a little change Big Grin

They were the exact same release with one line of code changed, and that line was not related to this problem you're discussing.

@Sub: That's what I meant to say. Hope you did not take my little teasing byline as an insult.
@Psycik: I will do some more testing on this plugin. One additional thing I just noted is that I do get rather long play lists. My collection is mostly classical music which on avarage is a bit longer. The last random playlist I scheduled contained 74 tracks, where the 'default random period' was set to 25 minutes. Seems as if some calculus is screwed up there.

Could be, it doesn't tend to check the length of the song as it's adding it i don't think, just after is the entire playlist longer...Mine is set to 60 minutes.....but I have some 2 hours tracks and so it will add those as well....

I think something on 98 (rather that 98.8b) had changed in the notification, so I'm trying to find another way around it...I don't seem to consistantly get notifiied of a song starting/ending. I'll test more...

1) On the MVP ML2 runs fine
2) On the console of GBPVR server ML2 runs fine (contourHC)
3) On GBPVR PC-client with the standard Blue skin ML2 just does one run of random songs and than stops with an empty list
4) On GBPVR PC-client with skin ContourHC ML2 won't start at all

Because of other priorities, as a workaround I am presently listening via remote console on configuration 2)

After watching the different systems closer since the last days I must correct this observation. My sincere apologies.

My sight on the system may have been blurred by something else that seems to have happened. My default time setting for random player was 60 minutes. What I observe now is that enormous lists of tracks are selected, sometimes over 250! I do not remember I had that many when I installed ML2 for the first time under gbpvr 95.12. Because of the very long playlists, I had the impression that the list was regularly renewed.

just to add a note that my random playlist is now not refilling either. it was working fine when I upgraded from 97 to 98 (see my first post!) but following a clean install (darn windows) it's stopped working...Sad

Sorry, i think it's something to do with a component of gbpvr not working as they used to pre 98.

I'm hoping sub is going to come up with a fix

yeah thats fine - it's what I figured from the posts. I can happily live with the odd quirk in what is otherwise a top quality app (and plugin Smile)
