Daily Recording Service Crashes

My recording service crashes on a regular basis, at least once a day. I have elimnated some of the causes like McAfee Antivirus etc but now I seem to be getting pretty much the same error every time. It is a fatal unhandled exception with about the same details in the log every time. I have attatched a couple log files that show this error.

Any help would be apprechiated greatly!

This is an incompatibility with your firewall or antivirus software and the .NET 2.0 remoting (used by GB-PVR and lots of other apps). See post #2 of the sticky 'v0.98.8 survival guide' thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=19525

Thanks Sub!

I have not yet upgraded to version 0.98.8. I am still on version 0.97.13. Does that matter?

Has enyone installed this hot fix from Microsoft mentioned in the survival guide for this issue? Does it work? Does it break other things? Just wondering.

Thanks!

I just got the Hot Fix from Microsoft. I am going to try it when I get home tonight.

I will post something after testing to let everyone know how it works.

It also happened with v0.97. It is an incompatibility with .NET 2.0 (used since v0.97) and various antivirus/firewall software.

Good news. The Microsoft Hot Fix worked. This weekend my Priority Recording Service did not crash once. Thanks for the help.

I am still getting an unhandled exception but it does not crash anything (as far as I can tell). It looks like it is tied to the EPG auto update. At the current time I do not have broadband (Gasp!). When it tries to update the EPG it can not get out to the internet and it logs and error in the priority recordings log (one for each tuner) and I get a command prompt window showing log creation and a error message window. After I close the error message window everything seems fine.

I would like to disable (temporarily) the auto update. Can anyone help me with this.

Thanks!

Can anyone help me with the correct setting to disable the auto EPG updates. I see the configuration in the config.xml file but can I plug in a value to disable the auto update?

What is that value? 0?

If you use the up/down buttons next to the EPG Update time setting in the config app, you'll notice a 'Never' option.
