Actually with an antenna rotator, it makes it much better to do it manually. You can get all the stations and with TS Reader, you can peak all the signal strengths. I have made an Excel spreadsheet with the settings so it will be very easy. You just have to copy the settings over to GBPRV.

Sub,

I posted a message on the issue with my HDTV Wonder card under Remote Access to ATSC Machine. I have installed the 5th patch but cannot get my card to work under live TV or to record a file. When I try to watch, I get a digital noise picture (frozen, not changing) with no audio. When I try to record, I get a folder for the show but no files. I posted the log files and was hoping you could tell me what I did wrong with setup.

I was late in writing this because for some reason, the old original setup was working (only for a week or so then it stopped recording).

Thanks,

I'm not really sure what to suggest. The ATI HDTV Wonder is just not working with the current GB-PVR code. If you're using those patches, then the channels really need to be added via a channel scan, but unfortunately this doesnt work with the HDTV Wonder.

I emailed ATI about the problem nearly a week ago but havnt heard back from them (and I suspect I wont be hearing from them).

Your best bet might be to go back to the vanilla v0.98.8 release, with no patches, and hope that ATI do come back with some answers, or updated drivers that correct the issue. For now I'll be recommending people dont buy this specific device.

Thanks Sub. The old way seems to work for a while but then dies after a few recordings. I can still watch using that setup.

Sub,

Tried your hint to use TS Reader Lite to all of the station data and it worked. It wasn't quite straight forward on how to get the data and put it in the right place but it works now.

Thanks,

Yeah it does work, but unfortunately makes initial setup pretty difficult for ATI HDTV Wonder owners. I wish there was an easier way.

I'm glad I searched the forums first -- http://www.Buy.com has the ATI HDTV Wonder card on sale for only US$59 with free shipping (that's including a $25 rebate). I was "this close" to buying it, but decided to search first. Glad I did!

Still tempted to get it to use outside of GBPVR or just to keep around in case of future compatibilty ....hmmmm.... hmmmm.... money...itching ....in.... pocket..... Wink

GBPVR system info intentionally left blank because I'm personally
insulted that you can't remember it from previous signatures.

I stumbled on GBPVR after installing the HDTV Wonder and being underwhelmed with their software. Do previous versions of GBPVR work with this card or is it just an impossibility?

Thanks!

The current version (v0.98) does work for most people. In an attempt resolve some lingering problems encountered by some ATSC device owners, I made some major changes for the next release, but made them available as patches for the current v0.98 release. These changes were discussed here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=19718

In general these changes were a major jump forward, and resolved the problems I was aiming to solve.

Part of these changes involved adding a new channel scanning mechanism... Unfortunately this specific aspect does not work with ATI HDTV Wonder device, even though it works fine with every other ATSC card tested. It is possible to skip this channel scanning step if you're a ATI HDTV Wonder owner, but it does mean you need to manually enter the tuning information, as was done by bugbus01.

Actually, the manual entry is not too bad. As I said in the first post (this was really my last post but it was during the time the forum server was having a problem), with an antenna rotator, this is the best way to get all the stations. If you have a rotator, then you will miss many stations with a scan.

Once I finished, I made a spreadsheet to save all the station settings. Ever since I set this up, it has worked flawlessly. Attached is my spreadsheet if anyone is interested.

Also, I got the analog part of the card to work and now I have three tuners (HDTV Wonder DTV and analog, and my primary card is an ATI All-in-wonder 9000 Pro). All works well now and I am very happy with the setup. I can record an HD program and an analog at the same time or two analogs at the same time.
