I have been trying for several days using different programs and not one has worked great. I tried the GBPVR transcode and after 24hrs it was still trying to convert the same file (any help with maybe setting this up to work right).

I tried DVRMSToolbox. It would not get past about .75%, even after leaving it for >24hrs to run. I have tried AVS Tools 5.5. It worked to convert to Xvid, but the video was choppy. I have been trying to use Digital Video Converter 2.7 and had audio sync problems as well as choppy video converting to Xvid. Trying again to convert to MPEG2 right now.

I am so frustrated by this. Using the Cyberlink Mux on ATSC is horrible so all I can use it DVR-MS.

You might try VLC. I haven't tried it with DVR-MS but among all the other things it does, it can be used to convert from and to a wide variety of formats.

Well, I haven't tried it with an HDTV stream in DVR-MS format, but I just tried it with a SD DVR-MS file and it worked fine. I've used VLC to convert an HD .TS file to MPG as well without trouble.

If you've not used VLC before, it's not real obvious (to me anyway) how to do the conversion using the GUI, and there are so many command line options that VLC can be a bit intimidating. Just select Wizard... from the file menu and go from there. It's quite simple.

VideoReDo can also convert to mpg (and correct many errors in the process). There is a free trial that you can use to try it out. If the program was flagged with copy protection, then you may be out of luck, however.

I used DVR2MPG a LONG while back. I remember that I was able to convert an HD recording from my ATI HDWonder card down to an MPG. When I burned a DVD, it came out 16x9. The picture wasn't great, but it did work.

I am able to get it to work, but the video quality is not good. I have seen 42 min of ATSC HDTV in a 700 meg Xvid file with fantastic quality and AC3 5.1 audio. I would love to be able to put 8 1hr show episodes on a single 4.3gig dvd and play them from my HTPC as Xvid files. Great way to store them. Leaving them as DVR-MS takes up close to 50gig of HD space.

I am so frustrated with this right now, I am pulling my hair out ;-)

You could use the TS muxer. If not, the best muxer to use in GBPVR for ATSC programming is the cyberlink muxer that comes with the Cyberlink PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC Edition. I believe it comes with the Demo version as well. Otherwise the M71 muxer can be found on the internet and can be used with graphedit to remove the dvr-ms wrapper.

I have Graphedit and M71 Muxer...How do I set up the graph to remove the wrapper?

Also, which ax files do I need to register to use the Powerencoder mux?

Well got the powerencoder mux installed and the recordings from setting to the cyberlink mux sucked. They would not play...But using the powerencoder mux did allow for transcoding to Mpeg-2 very nicely. I think I am on my way.

Thanks so much
