Hi all

I've been browsing these forums for a while now and always been able to find the solutions to the issues I've had from time to time. But now I'm stumped so here's my first post to the forum, hope you can help. There’s quite a history here so please bear with me.

System: Athlon 64 3200, Win XP 32bit, nvidia GeForce FX 5500, PVR500 fed by digital cable STB. GBPVR 0.98.08, MVP

The problem I’m having now is the crashing of my pc whenever I view live TV or select a channel to play via TV Guide on the PC. Previously recorded shows play without problem.

The above has arisen since replacing my previous PVR 150 with the 500. Immediately after which I began receiving the “…target machine actively refused it” message. Having cured that I began receiving “could not find a configured device” and found that the crossbar filter was missing so I used HWClear and then installed the latest 500 drivers from the Hauppauge site. The logs seem to show that this problem is fixed.

At this point I performed a clean install of GBPVR (moving from 97.13b to 98.08 in the process) although my existing config settings survived.

I’ve attached the logs, screen dumps of the MS Online Crash reports and the event viewer application log.

In the application log it looks like there’s a .NET 2.0 problem (the latest one gives the following detail - EventType clr20r3, P1 priorityrecording.exe, P2 0.0.0.0, P3 44dd1f9b, P4 recordingutils, P5 1.0.2414.38274, P6 44dd39d5, P7 a8, P8 1, P9 system.io.fileloadexception, P10 NIL.)

I also noted the problem with nview_info which I’ve attempted to address by removing nview application and installing the 91.47 forceware card drivers from nvidia.

It is at this stage that my current problem begins – viewing Live TV causes the PC to freeze or restart or gives a blue screen of death (the last message included DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL).

I’ve also had a command window pop up 2 or 3 times, the contents of which can be seen in the attached recording.log.doc

As a side issue my MVP also appears to have been impacted as it won’t get past 2 blocks on it’s boot sequence.

Thanks in advance,

Kirk

This first part is some bug in the priorityrecording.exe plugin you have installed. Its probably not compatible with v0.98. Probably worth posting this question in the plugin and skin support forum.

This isnt really something I can help you with, but its a pretty clearly a driver bug if its generating this blue screen and error message. You'd probably need to either try contacting Hauppauge or nutting it out yourself. Also worth having a look on http://www.shspvr.com/smf

The thing is I don't have priorityrecording installed and can't understand where the reference has come from. No matter, I've swapped back the 150 and I've got stable liveTV back (still with priorityrecording flashing up so we can surmise that it's not the cause of the 500 issue).

It's time to recognise this a card or driver issue.

Thanks for the pointers sub and I'd like to add my plaudits for this piece of work. GBPVR is awesome!

ok

Now I understand that priorityrecording.exe forms part of xrecord all is much clearer. For the detail go to http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...yrecording

Now if I could just get the 500 to find a channel...
