I've got an interesting problem I ran into. I recently recorded a one hour show. It looks like it recorded ok, except that when I try and play it back the time bar only shows 5 minutes and 24 seconds. I can fast forward and rewind anywhere i want within that 5:24, but past that the video keeps playing but I can't skip around in the file.

When I copied the file off of the PVR and onto a PC with some video processing software I got the same results. Opening the file in Media Player shows 5:24 as the length of the file and if I try and skip around past that 5:24 then Media Player kind of hangs for a few minutes, then finds it's way and continues. If I try VLC media player the time shows 18:25 and the same behavior occurs. If I load the video into Pinnacle Studio it can only see the first 5:24. I looked through the GBPVR logs but I didn't see anything that complained about anything during that time frame. I know the drive is good, so I'm not sure what got messed up.

I'm assuming the MPEG headers in the video file got screwed up somehow. Anyone know how to fix them?

Thanks
Marc

Let me guess, PVR150 owner? It sounds like the PVR150 timestamp bug to me. There is a sticky post about this, with new Hauppauge drivers and registry settings to correct the issue.

Guilty as charged... I'll take a look.

In the meantime, is there a way to fix the file?
Thanks

I think there was, but I cant remember what utility it was (never had the problem myself). It might have been Videoredo or something similar.

Sub,
sorry for coming back to this so late. I can't find the sticky. Do you have a link to the thread?

Sorry again
THanks

Right on, thanks again guys! This forum needs to be awarded the "quickest support turnaround time" award... I don't think I've ever had to wait more than 20 minutes for an answer!

If you are still having problems with that file try PVAstrumento.

somone told me about it a while back, andit seems to fix the little issues that PVR mpeg encoders can sometimes cause (non-dvd compliance)

Thanks
