I'm not sure what Sound Control is, so I'm not sure if that plays a part or not.

There is no messages in the logs that really give me an indication of what exactly is occurring, but I've added some additional logging for the next release which should help us get to the bottom of things. Sorry, I know thats not an immediate fix, but a step in the right direction.

I had a similar issue where the audio would mute itself each time I played a new file. The only interim solution was to open the volume control tab and adjust the wave volume. This got old very quickly.

I remembered an addon program that runs in the system tray which was used with MS media center to allow media center to control the digital audio out. This software once installed has fixed my problems w/ GBPVR. The only additional thing that I had to do was to place it under the "startup folder"

A green button forum article can about volume tracker can be found here:
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/91682.aspx

The software can be downloaded here. It is just an app w/o an installer and can run from any folder.

rtmey2000, my client just started doing the same thing. Each time I play a new video file, the wave volume slider goes to zero. It does not do this with music files - they start out at full volume just fine.

Thank you for the tip on the bit of software that can help, however it's not a perfect solution as you know because you still have to "bump" the volume up or down to get the corresponding volume to begin tracking along with the master slider.

Mine started doing this on a client machine after I installed the volume On-screen display plugin yesterday on the same client machine. Did you by any chance install the volume OSD too?

Not a super sleuth at log reading, but there is a line in the GBPVR.exe.log that says:

10/14/2006 7:19:17 AM.109 VERBOSE [1] Volume Plugin: Volume Level changed, displaying Volume OSD.

... so at least the problem is self aware. I sure wish I knew how to prevent this completely.

There appears to be a new GBPVR release within the last week. It appears to address this issue and also has a volume tab which allows you adjust which volume that GBPVR controls.
