Howdy,
I am not sure if this is the right place for this, but I can't seem to find another other place thats better. Searching the forums hasn't netted me anything either. So when all else fails ask. [Image: smile.gif]

I am using the MVP without a PVR card, and I honestly don't watch much TV. I already have a PVR from my satelite company too. What I do use the heck out of is the MVP to playback Movies, Music, Pictures, Internet Radio, etc.

The GBPVR Software takes my default capabilities and puts the MVP on crack. I love it, and I certainly appreciate all the work and effort being put into it. I plan on making a donation soon in fact. I am having issues with a few things tho.

1.) Often when using the device things will just slow down and eventually after clicking trying to get a response I get the normal MVP screen back. I am not sure whats up with that. I have not upgraded to the newest version yet because it seemed mostly directed towards the TV aspect.

2.) When using the DVDRipper plugin, it does what its supposed to do, however I can't play that file back on my MVP and thats what I was hoping to use it for. I have jacked around with Dr.Divx, DVDx, SmartRipper, etc and I have to just be retarded, because I can't ever get it to work. I get errors, applications just quit, etc. Any specific suggestions?

3.) DVD2MPEG - Thats what I was hoping to get working right. I have downloaded and installed all the required elements as dictacted from the PDF, however it's not functioning as advertised.
a.) I am not getting any log anywhere from it as the pdf says there should be. I can't figure out how to get it working so I can at least see what the problem is. I have ran searches on my computer to find it in case it was somehow in the wrong place.
b.) The DVD Decrypter works like a champ, then besweet does it's business, after that it closes and it appears another windows comes up and immediately goes away so fast I can't even tell what it is. I have nothing in my event viewer saying there is a problem either.

At this point nothing else happens and I never get my finished files but I can see the working files in my Temp directory. I have pasted in below my config file as directed by the instructional pdf. Maybe I screwed up and you can help.

Also below are my system specs so that you can see my environment. Thanks so much for everyones help and time on this. It's an incredible tool and if I can get these last few things to work, I will be in heaven. Thanks!

Try the update at http://www.bladerhq.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...n/DVD2MPEG

In the worst case you can now configure the plug-in to keep the temp files around and you can manually run the last step to sew what is going wrong.

Hello Jeff,
Thanks for your response. I somehow have managed to not see that site before you linked too. It has been helpful with this and some other things I was wondering about. I have installed the new version of the plugin and I am on my way to getting this problem fixed. Below is the last part of the log, and I still have no completed movie. On the MVP it is on step 2 then after a while just pops back like its done. It seems mplex either doesn't like the options or is erroring out instantly before starting. I was hoping you might have a suggestion or idea as to whats wrong. Thanks for your help and time. Have a great day. [Image: smile.gif]

12/5/2004 9:43:33 AM: Renaming K:\Temp\VTS_01_1 - 0xE0 - Video - MPEG-2 - 720x480 (NTSC) - 4~3.M2V

12/5/2004 9:43:33 AM: Start Process: args are: -f 8 -o "P:\New\Dvd Video.mpg" "K:\Temp\audio.mp2" "K:\Temp\video.m2v"
12/5/2004 9:43:33 AM: Current rip state is Besweet

12/5/2004 9:43:33 AM: Process C:\Program Files\Cuttermaran\Provider\mux\mplex.exe complete
12/5/2004 9:43:33 AM: Process completed with a non zero error code
12/5/2004 9:43:33 AM: In CleanupStep
12/5/2004 9:43:33 AM: Skipping CleanupStep

If I run mplex from command line with those options, I get the following errors.
C:\Program Files\Cuttermaran\Provider\mux>mplex -f 8 -o "P:\New\Dvd Video.mpg" "
K:\Temp\audio.mp2" "K:\Temp\video.m2v"
INFO: [[Image: rock.gif]] mplex version 2.2.2 ($Date: 2003/05/13 20:27:15 $Wink
**ERROR: [[Image: rock.gif]] File K:\Temp\audio.mp2 unrecogniseable!
INFO: [[Image: rock.gif]] File K:\Temp\video.m2v looks like an MPEG Video stream.
**ERROR: [[Image: rock.gif]] Unrecogniseable file(s)... exiting.

I thought the problem all the while might have been mplex, but it appears mplex doesn't like the audio file. Suggestions? The file exists and should work right? There isn't the slightest indication of a problem in the besweet logs. Thanks for your help and time.

Are you using Besweet 1.5b? The original doc for the plug-in pointed you to the "current" version of Besweet (1.4 I think), which does not work work in this process. You can get the 1.5b release at http://dspguru.notrace.dk/BeSweetv1.5b29.zip

Jeff,

been trying your plug in beta 4 with gbpvr 2.3.11 over the weekend,

on two different PC's , form a new instalation I have had 100% success in creating the files.

Power DVD crash's after a few seconds trying to play the .mpg file, but that could be powerDVD.

But with the MVP, works just fantastic. mpeg 2 file about 6G, about what I'd expect, and what to me looks like perfect picture.

Well done Jeff.

Jeff, the new besweet worked like a champ. My new file was created and is perfect. I do have another question which searching the site didn't solve.

When I watch the mpeg on my computer, it plays like a champ, no stalling, stuttering, or choppyness.

When I play on MVP its choppy in playback. It appears to be either buffer overflow or network. My cpu, memory, and network doesn't appear high at all on my server. The network is wired 100mb via a switch.

Is the bit rate by default too high for the MVP? Is there something in the config somewhere I need to change? The DVD file is pretty big and I would not mind sacrificing a little quality to get smooth playback and save some space. What do you think?

If you happen to have an onboard Intel NIC, I would recommend trying a different network adapter. I remember seeing on shspvr forums that they had a problem, and the problem exists on my Dell.

Solarcurve,

have you got any further ?

I have MVP , similar set up to you, and things just work great, band width on network not a problem.

There have been some comments about the new QOS network drivers. Part of the improved XP .

I seem to remeber Hauppauge recomend turning them off on there site for the MVP.

Are you running the Hauppauge server software, or using the GB PVR one. Try un installing one and use the other, see if that gives you some clue.

I haven't had any more luck at all actually. I have tried a ton of things and I can't see to make any difference. I am on windows 2003 Server and there is no QOS running. I tried with and without the original stuff running in the background and the issue remains. Thanks for the suggestions. This is starting to make me crazy. [Image: smile.gif] I will keep looking, thanks for the suggestions.
