It seems that lately my XML download from Zap2it is failing. Not sure why or how to troubleshoot. What I can tell you is that nothing past next Wednesday is showing in the guide (I am downloading 14 days) and the #.xml files (1.xml, 2.xml, ...) are not being updated. Some of them are more than a week old. So I think that something is conking out during the download, just not sure where to look. I also 'think?' (someone tell me) that I can delete all of the #.xml files and just re-run the update and they will be recreated.

Just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing before I start.

Hi
Several people (including myself) have had some ongoing zap2it download problems in the last two or three months, its not just an xmltv problem because the native plugin gives the same results (and message) on my system.

It sounds like you’re using an older version of I-xmltv.
Best to start by installing v1.2 or 1.3b, then follow the steps listed in this thread.
http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...tcount=139

Be sure to use the new UpdateEPG.bat that is included with 1.2 and above, because it downloads a single file epg by default.
Incremental downloads aren’t an option if you have this problem, because zap2it is sending invalid “day” files.
Yes, just delete all the *.xml files from the I-xmltv folder after you install the update, and try the fix in the link above.

Let me know how it works out, or if you have any problems.

Jim

PS If you want to zip and attach your “I-xmltv.log” I'll check it to make sure there aren’t any other visible problems.

Since I upgraded to v1.3b (I think) on my laptop, I'm not getting any Premiere indicator. The statement in the log changed from "xxxx Premiere" to "0 New". What did I break?
What, me worry?

:o Nevermind, just RTFM more closely and saw the change in the switches for the bat file. It's all good again.

Hi Roy,
You need to replace your old UpdateEPG.bat (in the gbpvr folder) with the updated version included with the new release.
The switches (/pi/* & /tp/-6) were renamed to (/ni/* & /tn/-6).

Basically the “Premiere!” indicator is now called the “New” indicator, and “New” is added to the genre list for all new episodes. <edit>You can exclude 30 show types from receiving the "New" genre using I-xmltv.ini Smile </edit>
It’s possible to search for the text “Premiere” and “Pilot” in the subtitle using TV Listings or the EWA.
Using “New” for the switches, indicator, and genre, will make things less confusing to explain in the future because a "Season Premiere" could be new or a rerun.

I need to remember to update my browser before replying!
Glad you have it sorted out.
The new UpdateEPG.bat also creates a standalone “FIND” channel if you decide to try it with TV Listings.

Hi Jim,

I've upgraded and my Xrecord is working with those fixes.

I really like this I-xmltv and TV listings. I'm having a little trouble with Ton's revised rename recordings possibly with the -t option. I also tried to use zaptools but that didn't work either.

Thanks

Jim,

Ton revised the rename recordings utility with the -t option.

I was wondering if there was an option to include the original air date on the end of the subtitle. It looks like it puts it in the description.

If it was in the subtitle then when the rename recording util runs it would include this date in the file name.

Maybe its in there but I'm not sure how to configure it.
For example, I would like to have files for TV shows named similar to this.

(title -- episode # if any -- subtitle -- original air date)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - 205-Buffy kicks butt - (2-28-01).

Thanks again.

Yea that’s a good idea and I’ve been thinking about it from time to time also. I like knowing the original-air-date and it would be nice to save it in the filename.

I didn’t add it as an option originally because the older gbpvr ms access database had a 50-character subtitle limit, the date would have been chopped off for most shows anyway.
Another problem that’s still around is that rectracker has a 100-character subtitle limit and will crash if the subtitle is over 100 characters. That’s one of the reasons I added title-subtitle-description length control (in I-xmltv.ini) in the latest build, so people could limit the gbpvr sqlite database for older utilities. The other downside for rectracker users (me) is that all the shows we previously watched will not be avoided, because the subtitle name will change when the date is added. Sad

See where I am on this? Great feature and idea, nasty consequences.
But I’ll try to add it and post it in this thread so we can try it out, if I can remember what all that code in my program does, LOL! Big Grin

I also use rectracker but don't necessary have to have it. Using Xrecord I've seen it recently not letting me use the 'seen it' option possibly because of the long file names. Instead, I just use the 'delete option' for these.

I would still really like an option of having the original air date on the end for the file names if possible.

I gotta tell you that using the Find Channel is awesome. I'm loving being able to search for shows with this option. Here's some I've got setup as custom channels - Adam Sandler, Humphrey Bogart, 4* movies, 3.5* movies, 1920's movies, 1930's movies. Absolutely incredible!Big Grin

My PVR setup is coming all back finally and better than ever. My next two things on my trouble issue list - 1) focus and 2) for some reason my MVP stopped working last week.

Thanks for all your hard work.
