This is one cool plugin Big Grin My new machine has an LCD built into the box, so I had to try this. Works like a charm. What future features can we expect? It would be cool to be able to "control" gbpvr without having to turn on the tv... just being able to navigate through the menus and having the LCD reflecting where you are Smile

Oh, and another thing. I'm having a problem with iso-88591-1 characters, such as åäö. Would that be a problem with this plugin, or with LCDSmartie?
I'm not always right

Good to hear.

Menu navigation is something I have on my todo list. Unfortunately, when I get around to it they probably won't be the menus in GBPVR but will be ones I come up with. This is because GBPVR does not currently provide information about its menus.

A similar issue came up earlier in the thread with another user of an earlier version of this plugin. I updated the plugin to allow non-ASCII characters. If you have not already done so, LCDSmartie requires a patch to display these characters correctly and the instructions for obtaining this patch should be in the LCDSmartie_GBPVRPlugin Info.txt file.

If you have applied the patch to LCDSmartie and the characters are still not being displayed, then it is probably the LCD that cannot display these characters. In LCDSmartie, you can use (I think) $Chr(x) (where x is an integer between 0 and 255 inclusive) to display the characters that your LCD supports. If you find the character you want after trying this, then you can simply write $Chr(x) in the config file instead of the character you want and the character you selected will be shown.

i found a little fix for the problem of using this plugin and MrSlimm's gbpvrcli...
.NET complains cuz both use the same tcp port[?!] for access...[i have a feeling it means access method tho]
so i changed the ip address in the smartie plugin to use the actual address of the machine, NOT 127.0.0.1...and it worked! while i was watching live tv too..Big Grin
[eg. 192.123.1.200]
i also changed the port,so i thought it may just be the port, and yes,it works!

so just go into LCDSmartie_GBPVRPlugin.dll.config and change the port there at top, and also GBPVR_LCDSmPlugin.dll.config... also at top...[to the same number!]
[one is in Smartie dir, the other in gbpvr dir]

hope that helps...cuz i also like the functionality of both..Big Grin
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie

Hi,

Just install both LCDsmartie and GBPVR LCDsmartie plugin, follow the instruction to the dot, but LCDsmartie still say there is no Mediacentre. I have try changing the port number in both config. file and make sure they match and changing the IP to real IP. I have a look in the GBPVR log file and it loaded the plugin OK. I am pretty lost at the moment. Can anyone give me some pointer?

Bench

I also have not been able to get it to work. I tried a month ago or so with no luck. To the best of my knowledge I have followed the instructions. Are there any means of troubleshooting to see where the problem might be coming from?

I must admit I found the instructions a bit confusing.

Hello Fooman1, it's all gone quiet with this plugin... are you still working on your direct-Imon-drive version? Because I for one would be interested to see it. I have got the 0.6 version running with LCDSmartie but I am having to run Imon's VFD program as well to get the volume control on the front of my Antec Fusion case to work.

Did you end up getting it working? The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is maybe your firewall (eg Windows Firewall) is blocking the communication between the two dlls. Try unblocking that port on your firewall for your local subnet.

Does yours have the same symptoms as bench2006's? I really need more information to be able to help.

Unfortunately, I've had a busy few months where I haven't been able to develop the plug-in much. Before that, though, I had gotten the new version responding to, handling and displaying various events, displaying a volume bar, etc, direct to the iMON VFD. I was working on the ability for the user to define their own screens for each mode and display the output they want on those screens, before I was interrupted by other, more pressing tasks.

Hopefully I will soon (within a month?) be able to complete a version that I am happy to release for testing. Once it's all done I'm thinking of also releasing the source code.

That's excellent news. It's a very useful plugin. I'd be interested to see the source code too for added playability!
