Hi, newbie here.. go easy Wink

I'm having some particularly weird problems getting any channels tuned in on my AverMedia USB2 DVB-T box (A800). When I attempt to scan channels, one of two things happens, either:

a) No channels will be found at all, on any frequency.

or

b) Each and every frequency scanned claims to be broadcasting the same (valid) set of channels, so I end up with loads of copies of the same channels (and every other multiplex is missing).

When b) happens, those channels it does find tune in fine and are watchable in Live TV. However attempting to download EPG information always fails.

I've applied all the patches from the "98.13 survival guide" thread, but nothing seems to help. NB: these problems only seem to affect GB-PVR - the bundled software and DVBViewer seem to work fine, so a lack of signal isn't the issue. I have previously had other BDA-friendly software working fine too.

I've attached some logs in the hope they may be of some use...

Edit: I've just noticed the following pattern is repeatable:

1) Unplug and then re-connect USB DVB-T device (detunes it)

2) Scan channels in GBPVR. Case A) above will happen and no channels are found.

3) Tune any channel using the AverTV or DVBViewer software

4) Scan channels in GBPVR - case b) happens, and the previously tuned multiplex is 'found' on every frequency!

5) The channels on this multiplex are viewable in Live TV.

So.. it seems GB-PVR isn't sending the tuning requests properly (or they are being rejected)?

Can you reset the logging level to debug, then reproduce the problem and attach the logs again?

Thanks for the quick reply Smile

Hopefully there should be some more details in these...

Its certainly odd. Sorry I dont know what would cause this. Given it doesnt have this problem with all the other types of BDA devices, I can only guess there is something funny about the drivers for this device that doesnt like the way GB-PVR does things.

That's a shame - it's just weird that it works with plenty of other software (I don't think they usually do anything special to support this device). I was hoping to use GB-PVR to drive the MediaMVP in my living room, but maybe I'll have to try a different TV tuner sometime.

Oddly enough, other forum users have reported success with this device - and it's listed under "supported devices" on the Wiki.

I wonder if there's something in my setup interfering with GB-PVR? Is there anything I can do to investigate further - any way I can get further logs/diagnostics etc?

Nothing springs to mind, but you could try a different version of the drivers to see if your fair any better.

The logs seem to indicate everything is behaving as expected from the GB-PVR end, but strangely the device just isnt changing frequencies.

Just as you posted that, I re-downloaded and re-installed the AverTV A800 drivers from their website - and I can now report that channel scanning and Live TV are working fine. Very strange.

However, I still can't download DVB EPG information (it just says "saving channels" etc and immediately closes the window). Can I give you any logfiles etc to try and resolve this?

Also Live TV causes my MediaMVP to reboot - I assume this is because I need the CyberLink muxer?

Cool - glad you got it working.

Did you apply the patch from the sticky v0.98.13 survival guide thread?

Probably.

Wink

I've now acquired the CyberLink mux and LiveTV is now working the MVP too.
What a helpful bunch of guys you are on here!

I just need to resolve the EPG problem now - I've attached some logs as it crashed out last time I tried "Update EPG". If you need anything else just ask.
