I am trying to figure out if addEpisode or RenameRecording will use XMLTV's episode-num system="onscreen" information when renaming the original video file to include the episode number. I know that many other are interested and can't see why this wouldn't be possible.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

i dont use xmltv, and did not test with it when i coded addepisode, so i would say that right now it does not use that info. I would be happy to add that functionality, but i dont have the xml file that has that information. If you want me to add that function, can you send me your xml file? I know that the gbpvr database wont import the episode numbers, so it will only work if it is in the xml.

I thought I read in one of the build release notes that sub included a field for zap2it/xmltv's episode information. However, I noticed when I did a channel export it did not contain a field for episode information. Why is there not a table field for the episode information in GB-PVR, yet?

It would be great if you could include this capability in addEpisode.

Below, I have included a short sample.xml file (it can be named anything.xml):

ill have a look at adding this to addepisode, but looking at the xml that you posted, the "onscreen" number seems to reflect the production number instead of the season and episode numbers.

If you want a good substitute, try using the "unique id" token that is already included in addepisode. This will add the "dd_progid" (either the full number-unique to an episodic show, or the last 4 digits-unique to the specific show) Look on the wiki for addepsode setup.

Let me know if this solution is not satisfactory, and i will look into adding the info from the xml.

The I-xmltv utility does this.
If you don’t want all the other enhancements you can toss the included UpdateEPG.bat and roll your own.

I-xmltv.exe [xmltv Infile] /se /oe

The output xmltv file will be “I-xmltv.xml”
"/se" Adds the Episode # to the beginning of Subtitle's. The Unique-ID ep# is used by default.
"/oe" Uses the Onscreen episode #, instead of the DD episode #

Turkey and Jim:

Thank you both for your replies. I have decided to try out I-xmltv since I am already using xmltv. It seems to support exactly what I am looking for and loads of more useful information.

Thank you both for your great efforts.

Respectfully,

Gary
