Hi, could someone tell me what I am doing wrong. I'm running GB-PVR 98.13. If I set up a new Capture Source I set the recording source, my EPG source, my channel changer. Then I select 'Map Digital Channels to EPG channels'. I scan and get a whole list of channels found during the scan in the right hand window. The thing is some of these are then not appearing in the left hand list of Channel names and Tuning request options. Particularly BBC3 & 4. What I don't understand is if they are scanned and found why they don't then appear as an option for me to enable? What am I missing?

many thanks

The list of channels on the left are those that have be imported via the EPG. The list of channels on the right is the channels found during a scan.

At the end of the scan, it guess tries to guess as many of the mappings as it can. For example, if your EPG indicated there was a channel called "BBC1" and channel called "BBC1" was found during the scan, then it makes the mapping. Often the names are not the same though - for example, the EPG might have "BBC ONE" and the scan might have found a channel called "BBC1"...no automatic match.

After GB-PVR has had a go at mapping the channels based on their exact name, then you can click in the mapping column to manually select the channel and perform the mapping yourself.

Sub,

many thanks for swift reply. I kinda knew this already but the options left for me in the left hand wondow show far fewer channel choices than those found in the scan. Is the EPG therefore not picking up enough channel options?

Just to update before UK bed time. I have somewhere in the region of 48 channels in the right hand window found during the scan. As a preview I can click select on any of these and they show in the preview window top right so I know that they have been found and are fine. What is happening is that I am NOT getting all of these listed as channel names under channels in the left hand column of the left window, only about 28 channels appear here. However the channels found on scan do appear as tuning requests so I could map a tuning request to a different channel name but of course this would then mean:

a) The channel name would not match the channel I had tuned to

b) I would be losing some channels to make priorities for the ones I wanted to get..........

Any help most welcome Rolleyes

This basically means whatever EPG source you're using isnt providing all the channels you can potentially receive.

I'm not in the UK, so not that familiar with the XMLTV grabbers you guys use, but I'm sure if you give more information about the EPG source you're using someone will be able to help you out.

Sub, once again many thanks, am enjoying the GB-PVR experience and as I write am watching Peter Jackson's Braindead previously recorded off UK transmission and played back through an MVP Smile

For anyone UK based that could help I am running XMLTV GUI to grab my listings looking at the RT and Bleb sites. I don't know why this isn't getting BBC3 & 4 listings and some others.........

thanks in advance

i use the xmltv gui, works well here. if you go to this page, you can download a small utility you can use to quickly load and view the data in the xmltv file that the gui generates. ive found that although not a direct fix to your problem, its useful as it lets you see whats in there pretty quick, and if you have selected the BBC3 and 4 channels in the xmltv gui configuration, you can use the util to see weather you are loosing them at the downloading point, or during the import into gbpvr.

it would also be an idea to take a quick look at the forums for the gui, there have been occasions in the past that a special character in use on the BBC3/4 web page has thrown the gui out of kink...if so, someone usually posts about it....

I'm using xmltv to grab radio times listing for digital, analogue and sky. Are you sure you have the missing chennels selected in say, the UK_RT selection? Any error messages in the xmltv log (in it's program directory).

Just a quick one regarding BBC3 and BBC4, you can only find these at certain times of the day. Evening I believe, otherwise they are some other channel. So do a scan at night and they should come up, that’s what I had to do (there are a number of posts regarding this)

A mix of thanks goes out:

ricklous - Pointing me initially in the right direction, my problem was with XMLTV and not GB-PVR

martint123 - channels were missing, resolved now

jonb1974 - I knew this already but interesting point. I want to get BBC3 & 4 BUT also want cbbc and cbeebies, it's hard work getting them scanned all at the right time Big Grin

I guess this may finish this thread but OOI rather than start another thread is there a way to get the UK DVB-T radio channels working as channels within Freeview TV as my cheap and cheerful ALBA Freeview receiver does?

thanks as ever
