Yes, the edl file contains the cutpoints. Comskip only creates the .edl file if you've configured it's ini file to make it do so... the .edl output is disabled by default and only the .txt file is created.

However, if you want the .edl files being created by comskip but just don't want this batch file to use them, remove the .edl processing from the bat file by removing the -edl option from the mencoder command lines.

This script looks fantastic. I do have one (potentially stupid) question tho.

Does the edl file contain cut-points and does memcoder use this data to automatically cut the ads when encoding?

I ask as my comskip config doesn't do a good job of finding ads so I don;t want the recording being cut, just transcoded.

If this is the case, what would be the best way of modding the script to not cut the file?

It depends on how you're using the script. If you're dropping files on it, it will transcode just fine without finding an edl file.

If you're using the automated directory transcoding, then you can set target_extension=mpg but you must also set file_delete=yes. This way, the script will search for all specified mpg's, transcode them, and then delete the original mpg. If file delete is set to no then the script will keep trying to transcode the same mpg over and over again.

Or you can do what wtg suggested above.
