I have just installed the above DVB-S card. I've got 2 BDA muxes installed as indicated below:

GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: InterVideo Multiplexer
FILE: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ivimux.ax
VERSION: 3.0.86.0

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: C:\WINDOWS\system32\MpgMux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.0813

I find that the InterVideo Multiplexer, from my copy of WinDVD Creator 2, works better for live TV, but recording always fails. Error from recording service is:

The Cyberlink one works and does not give an error, but both the live TV, and more so, the recorded shows skip, freeze and gets out of sync... not really watchable. Hence trying to get the InterVideo one working which seems to perform better with live TV.

Any ideas that I could try? Thanks.

Hasso

I wouldnt even bother trying to get the Intervideo one working. Its a buggy piece of crap.

I'd suggest moving to a newer Cyberlink mux, or using the Microsoft DVR-MS mux.

Thanks for that. Now the search is on for a more recent Cyberlink mux.

I've found though that using the Microsoft DVR-MS mux causes skips and breaks in live TV as well as when playing back a recording (in the same places). The picture quality is good, but I keep getting intermittent skips... looks like the picture freezes for an instant or two and then starts again, missing the bit during the freeze. CPU usage averages about 16-25% during the whole time.

With analoge television it's pretty easy to tell when the TV signal is weak, but, being new to using the satellite free to air, I don't know what to expect when the satellite signal is weak. Could the freezing be due to a weak signal?
Regards,
Hasso

Thats odd. Most people seem to think the Microsoft DVR-MS mux is the most reliable there is (with the only downside being the .dvr-ms format).

Yep, I'm guessing you've got signal problems from your description.

OK.. Up on the roof I go tonight to adjust the dish. Got to take advantage of a "no wind" day in Wellington. May not happen again for another few months.

Adjusted the dish by aboput 1/2 a degree which increased the signal strength by about 10%. Now, the skips, although still there now and then, have been significantly reduced.

what strength signal have you got when you scan i only getting 50% signal (yet set top box when i plug that in gets 99%)
im thinking maybe the a700 needs a really strong signal
i have the same issue
when i used the ms mux i got clicking in the sound real annoying
changed to a cyberlink one better, but now it stutters and sound drops out
cant bloody win

I really haven't played much with the A700 lately, but the present status is:
- strength when tuning through GBPVR Config. is 56% and quality is 100%.
- when watching live TV the picture quality is great with no skips/blockiness although I do experience "lip-sync" issues at times.
- for recording, the show records but playback is unwatchable as it tends to skip (as in several minutes) at random times. When hitting skip forward or backward I also get inconsistent jumps (sometimes a few seconds are skipped, other times, minutes are skipped, other times nothing happens). Very frustrating. The timeline will also be incorrect. An hour show will show up as, say 50 minutes.
Haven't had the time nor inclination to figure out what if anything can be done to fix it.
Regards,
Hasso
