My setup is shown below in my signature. I am sending out a 1080i component signal to my display. Right now I am just watching standard definition analog signals which, I suppose, are being upscaled by the GPU to 1080i. Using VMR9, there is a substantial amount of "jerkyness" in the video both real time and recorded media. If I do nothing but switch to VMR7 things are VERY much improved; very smooth playback. Is this a problem with the GPU, the video decoder (nvidia Pure video), the quartz.dll bug or something else. If this has been addressed elsewhere please provide a link.

Thanks!
Bill

Any idea about problem above? I assume no since no replies after 38 views but hard for me to beleive no one has some suggestions.

I've seen the exact same thing with my similar setup, using a NVidia 6200 and the Pure Video decoders w/ 1080p output. The CPU usage was much higher than it should have been too, even with VMR7. I haven't taken time to investigate however, finding that the Nero Decoders provide smoother playback and less CPU w/ VMR9.

I've not yet taken the time to investigate what's going on since I have plenty of other things keeping my attention and the Nero decoders work pretty well. However, having bought the Pure Video decoders and all the positive things I've heard from other people, I do plan on digging into it at some point. I'm hoping that perhaps the Pure Video decoder installation is simply screwed up and not using hardware acceleration, but I'm concerned that instead I might find the Pure Video hardware and/or drivers weren't really optimized for scaling to 1080 output.

Sorry but whats DxHA and how do I get to it.
I have never been able to use VMR9 and I'm still on the free 30 day trial.
Like to work this out before the free be ends and I have to decide to buy.

There should be an icon on your start bar for nVidia decoders. Open it, on the left side of the dialog box about center is a check box for Hardware Acceleration. Make sure it's unchecked.

DxHA is Direct X Hardware Acceleration.

I should kick myself for using the acronym as there are so many it's very confusing

I haven't tried this yet, but why would one want to turn off hardware acceleration? That seems backwards to me...

There have been a number of posts the last few days stating that turning off hardware acceleration produces better image and, above all, less stuttering (using purevideo, that is)... not really sure where this comes from...
