stopping recording

The main reason I have built the PVR is to one start viewing a recording say 10min after start. This doesn't seam to work all. Hangs up the computer and when it finally plays I get a few seconds of the show and then it stops. Only to start for a few more seconds. I can't exit the show ether. I did apply the patch and it still doesn't work. I can't even stop the recording. I've tried to stop the service and it will still show recording when I check the status. It's like once you start your stuck with it until the end. Any thing I've missed?

It sounds like problems with the audio/video decoders you're using.

Zip and attach your logs and I'll take a look.

You'll need to post the logs immediate after having the problem or the log files will be overwritten. These logs dont show an attempt to play and recordings or other video files.

I can't get to the menu to stop it. I waited for 5min and when it did go it says the thread is running or terminated it can not restart when I click LogZIP. I have to ctl/Alt/Del to get out. I'm using Nvidia and AC3 but I guess you can tell that.

I changed to the Nvidia audio and it did the same thing on playback. Maybe I got it to zip this time.

When you double click on a .mpg file in Windows Explorer, how longs does it takes before it plays in Windows Media Player? Does it play normally in Windows Media Player?

Plays right away and looks good.

If you try setting your audio and video decoder settings in the config app back to 'system default' rather than explicitly specifying the nvidia ones, does it help? If not, does switching to Overlay instead of VMR help? With the Overlay renderer and 'system default' audio/video decoders, you should get pretty much the same components being used as Windows Media Player would use.

works!! thanks but how can I tell what the default decoders are? I gotta pay for the pure video soon and wanted to try a few freebees before hand. What decoders do you use for video and audio?
PS also went to Overlay
