Hi,

I am wondering if it normal that the start-up of GB-PVR is getting really long now since I added my library of personnal DV video (a folder containing of 35 SubFolders and around 600 avi files).

When I am speaking of long start-up, I am speaking of something like 1:30 at 100% CPU time, and then it runs at 50% CPU usage for over 6 minutes maybe, more (still not finish).

And if I tried to go in the video panel while its still at 100% CPU usage, then and error is displayed (error message is "Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.").

Is this the normal behavior for this size of a video library?

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Are you talking about the Video Archive plugin (see thread title), or the built in Video Library?

I'm talking about the Video Archives Plug-In, which is accessed by the 'Videos' option of the main-menu.

Ok, I'll move the move this post to the plugins forum.

If you have scan directories at startup checked, uncheck it. This is very time consuming since it scan all paths to try to find new video files.

No, I don't have 'Scan for files on each startup' checked.
But I have 'Set as default video plugin' & 'Auto-Fetch information from the Internet for new recordings and DVDs'.

Also, the library path have been added to the 'Archive Settings' and not 'DVD Settings'. What is exactly the difference between these two???

If you can zip up your config.xml and the *.log files from the jeff sub directory that will help me see what is going on. The two settings you have enabled should have no effcet on startup time.

The difference between archive paths and VD paths is that DVD paths are assumed to be movies, and when a new file is created in one of those paths the plug-in will try to fetch a poster image and descriptive image for the move from the web (looking at amazon.com and imdb.com) if auto fetch is set to true. For archive paths is assumed that these are files that were recorded by gbpvr. The only lookup that is done is that when a new sub directory is created, it is assumed this is a series name and the plug-in tries to fetch a poster image for the show looking first at epgguides.com, then TV.com, and finally imdb.com.

Here are the log file as requested.

I also noticed the same problem others reported (the files from my 'Y:\DV' path are not show... etc)...

Thanks for any help.

Would you mind posting the *..log files from GBPVR itself too so I can compare what it is doing with what the plug-in is doing? Thanks

New info:

Since the added directories did not show up, I decided to add them to the 'Video Library Directories' of the 'Directories' Tab of GB-PVR's config too. (What is right thing to do (Is adding directories in VA config enough or must they be added at both places?)?)

But the videos still did not show up. Even when pressing F11 when in the Videos Panel.

So I checked 'Scan for files on each startup', and Boum, here they were!!! Big Grin
The GB-PVR CPU Time at 100% lasted about 60 seconds (as before). The it drop at 50% for I don't know how long because after 2 more minutes, I was tire to wait so I just selected Videos from the Main Menu, and by doing so, the CPU usage dropped at 2%.

I included the logs files with this new setup. I hope the new information will help you.
