I've got a Hauppauge PVR-500 dual tuner card and am having trouble recording two channels at once.

I can watch one channel while recording another, but have been unsuccesful in trying to record two channels (while not watching any).

Does GBPVR not allow this? If I added a third tuner (say, an ATI TV Wonder 550pro) could I then do it? I would think then I should be able to record THREE things at once...?

Also, what exactly is the "timeshifting" mode. Is it possible to use GBPVR like a TiVo and pause live tv while I use the bathroom and then resume play when I get back? Or what about to go back 30 seconds to view an instant replay in a sports broadcast?

Thanks for the help...

edit: im using the new 0.99.5 release if it matters... great program.

GBPVR definately allows you to record multiple channels with multiple tuners. Could you describe what happens when you try to schedule two recordings at the same time?

Live tv can be watched in live preview mode or timeshifting mode. Live preview mode grabs the video stream straight from the tuner card. (No FF/RW possible) Timeshifting mode temporarily saves the video stream to your hard disk thus allowing FF/RW functions. By default, GBPVR uses live preview mode. Pressing pause while watching TV will turn on timeshifting mode and start saving the video stream to your hard disk.

If you always want to be able to rewind live TV, go to the miscellaneous tab in GBPVR config and unselect the two boxes under "live preview mode". (This will make channel changing slower.)

Hope this helps,

thanks so much in answering the other question.

when i try to do two recordings at the same time, GBPVR stops me and tells me there is a conflict and it tells me i either need to cancel a recording already in progress or cancel the new recording.

i've set up two tuners in the capture sources config option -- one as "Hauppauge PVR 500" and the other as "Hauppauge PVR 500 with FM Tuner" because that is what this website indicated I should do...

Give #1 to "Hauppauge PVR 500", then #2 to "Hauppauge PVR 500 with FM Tuner" when you setup the capture source.
