Lot of questions on this friendly PVR

Thanks to GBPVR, after trying out SageTV, WinTV and others, I settled down to this one because this one delivers with no fuss ( and free as of now ).

I have PVR 350, a good machine, connected to TV ( no monitor ). so far I am using remote from Hauppauge ( I will end buying Tira or USBUIRT ). Have the following questions, sub/everyone - please answer each of them ( thanks for the patience )

1. medium quality - nothing else : even if I set any other type, it always goes back.
2. how do I enter the channel directly : I can incr/decr channels, but if I type the numbers ( for ex: 472 channel on dish ), it doesn't respond to the number pad.
3. net radio - how to add more stations - there are some radio stations that are not listed here. Can I add them manuallly ?
4. How to schedule the tasks inside PVR ? Apart from Recording of programs, I want to schedule shutdown/music play and etc. Can I do it ? If not, can I do it via Girder ?
5. epg download - takes a long time. If it is cancelled in the middle, it should retain the stuff downloaded so far.
6. can we record live tv while playing back some other archive video ? Also, can I pause live tv while watching something else ?
7. Love the plugins, installed all of them. But then the main screen showed all of them in one column,exceeding the screen limit. Would be ideal if we can categorize them or show in multiple columns.

You have to select the quality when you set up a recording in gbpvr by selecting Record (not Quick Rec). In the Config thing you can only set the settings for the diffirent recording formats.

First press the number, then press OK on the remote.

From the change.log file that comes with GBpvr " - Added 'Net Radio' menu option for listening to live Shoutcast MP3 radio stations. Save .pls files in "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\net radio" to add addition stations to the list. You can download more stations (.pls) files from http://www.shoutcast.com."

Not that I know of.

Set it to fewer days / use the offset option to only get one day's listings each time (assuming you have the epg download running once a day)

You can playback any recording while recording something else (the recording has to be set up either in the epg or as a manual recording). You can only watch one thing at a time, the solution would be to record the program you want to pause, and play it back when you're ready to watch it (it should work even if it's still recording).

You can use smaller buttons / move them closer by either changing to another skin or edit teh skin.xml file in /skin/name of skin/main menu/

I would disagree with this. This would break the useability concept of what cancel means. As nkh says better to configure the number of days, but the meaning of cancel should not change.
