I have an issue with comskip where if I run it on a 6+ GB file it crashes. I get the little Send a Report to the Author type dealie and that's it. Not sure where to look to debug this. Any ideas?

This happens with all versions that I have tested with (.64 .65 .66 and a few older ones).

Did you try it on more than one +6GB file or just on one? If it's only one, could the file be corrupt?

I've tried on many....new, old, doesn't seem to matter. I had been trying to get it to work on a 3 hour movie for a while but it always failed (even tried moving the 9 gig file to another machine and downloading a new copy of comskip with the exact same results).

Then last night I recorded a 2.5 hour movie and woke up to the crash screen.

as mentioned above I ran it using many different versions of 79_ tree from 48 up to 66 with the same results. I also moved the file to my Client PC (see sig for specs) and had the exact same issue regardless of version...

I haven't done this sort of testing with multiple files as it seemed to result the same regarless. I will try to move my current cap to another machine and try again...

Also I wasn't aware comskip loaded everything into mem? this seems a little silly and more likely incorrect. 512 megs should be fine...maybe a little slow but should be able to handle it.

Take a look at the log file I've attached. It seems to loop at some point which causes the crash. Unfortunately it doesn't provide more detail on it.

The file was recorded this morning using my main HTPC and is 7,519,320KB in size.

Also just for clarification on this:

Quote:I haven't done this sort of testing with multiple files as it seemed to result the same regarless. I will try to move my current cap to another machine and try again...

I have tested multiple versions of comskip against multiple files on one PC. I haven't tried moving these all to another PC for testing. Also when I'm testing GB isn't running. In fact nothing else is running on the machine and same results.

Comskip runs fine while GBPVR is recording on a W2K machine with only 256MB
It is possible you have hit a memory leak. Live_tv is a possible area with a memory leak.

Could you disable live_tv? Set
live_tv=0
in your comskip.ini file and try again to process the file and post the log file again.

Hey Erik!

I'm now totally confused about this issue. I ran comskip locally from another machine on the same file via a mapped drive. It ran no problems. Same version of Comskip and I believe the ini file is the same as well.

Attached is the log from that run. I did not disable the live_tv switch as I had already started that run and wanted to see the results. Plus the live_tv switch is a recent change I made to my comskip.ini and this problem was present before that.

So now I'm not sure why comskip keeps crashing on that machine. I will try copying over my ini from the machine that worked to the machine that doesn't just in case and I will also unpack .67 to both machines.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks!

Attached is the log from .67 with a fresh ini on the HTPC (all I change is edl=1 and live_tv=1).

I will try again with live_tv disabled as requested.

Attached is with live_tv disabled (running from the Main HTPC). The log looks very different but the result is the same. An incomplete parse of the file. Note that nothing is running on this machine at the time of this run other than VNC. Not sure if that helps.

The last message is about resizing a very large array, so it could be a memory problem.
Could you monitor memory usage on that machine while comskip is running?
And try to run it when some other memory hungry applications are removed?
