I ran it again with nothing on the box running. GB was shutdown although the recording service was loaded and sleeping.

Same type of error, I should have tried to copy the STDOUT buffer before closing the DOS window but:

298 Megs to start average CPU load 2% (VNC is running and active)
357 Meg right away 100% CPU
26 minute marker in the file RAM usage jumped to 365
42 minute marker crashes with 3 meg jump in RAM usage
305 Megs once all the windows are cleared.

Attached is the log from that run.

Hey Erik!

Just letting you know that I tried running Comskip on a 3 Gig recording today and I'm getting the same failure. Tried all sorts of things I could from remote (defrag etc). no luck. Looks like I got a demon.

I'm going to try memtest on the machine tonight to make sure the RAM isn't bad...

I'm now totally confused about this issue. I ran comskip locally from another machine on the same file via a mapped drive. It ran no problems. Same version of Comskip and I believe the ini file is the same as well.

This means there is a problem with this machine because Comskip does not use anything outside the ini file and the recording.

Possibilities are:
- bad memory
- not enough memory
- CPU stability problems due to 100% load over longer time

Could you monitor the CPU temperature and see if it gets too high?
Could you run a memory test to see if all your memory is OK?

Hey Erik!

While reading your last post it dawned on me that I haven't cleaned out that machine in a while and it was possible the chip would be covered in dust and overheating. Sure enough it was!

I'm still running a few tests on it to make sure that was the culprit but after blowing out the inside of the machine my CPU temp is lower and I was able to comskip the file that started all of this (7Gigs).

Looks like I may need to replace my fan soon too so this was a good early warning... Smile

Thanks again for your help! Sorry if I had you scratching your head a little.
