In the last couple of months I've had frequent failed recordings. At one point I noticed that the tray icon wasn't green when it should be recording. So I checked the recording status and instead of it just saying 'sleeping' or 'recording' it lists: 'Capture Source #1, Tuner1; Capture Source #2, Tuner1; Capture Source #3, Tuner1' etc. all the way up to Capture Source #8. When this is the status it will fail to record everytime. I can restart the recording service and get the status back to 'sleeping' and at that point scheduled captures work fine, but if the computer is restarted the list of capture sources comes back and the any subsequent scheduled captures won't occur. I also think that the status of sleeping goes away at times without a reboot as I've checked the status later in the day and found it back to the capture source list when we hadn't rebooted. This machine is on 24/7 and is seldom rebooted unless there is a glitch.

So I updated all the programs: intervideos WinDVD and Creator, my TV402U driver, and installed the latest GBPVR (99.5). Still no joy. Not sure what in Windows is causing this problem. Any ideas? Thanks Logs are attached.

To be honest, I suspect the software is no longer compatible with the TV402U (or other GO7007SB device) - its been a very long time since anyone tested GB-PVR with one of these devices. Sorry, but there was so few owners of these devices that it wasnt a great place to spend my limited development and testing time.

I hear you but I think this problem sprung up a few months ago, before I upgraded to the latest version of GBPVR. I didn't have this problem for over a year. It might have been around .95 that I was using. I thought it was possibly my change to Shaw Secure AV software from Norton AV. But I've tried the free AVG, free Avast as well and no luck. If there was a plugin that I could schedule a restart of the recording service all would be well. I only record two shows, the daily show and colbert report. As long as the recording service was automatically restarted just before they aired, all would be well.

I had this same problem of listing eight capture devices (I have two) right after I'd updated to 99.5.

A day or so before updating to GBPVR 99.5, I'd installed and was experimenting with an alpha release of ZProcess . I didn't realize it at the time, but apparently that particular release of ZProcess had an issue which made GBPVR 99.5 install think it was missing ffmpeg so GBPVR was trying to reload itself as well as doing some other weird things like the eight tuner problem. Once I returned to my last working ZProcess release, it all worked properly again.

I haven't installed zprocess however. But thanks for replying. I tried replacing the 6 mb ffmpeg.exe file with this one http://members.shaw.ca/ztest/fmpeg.exe

and that seemed to work for four or five boot ups but after that the same old story. It looks like it might be BeyondTV for me. I almost had a solution when I thought I might be able to shedule a run of the config.exe but it was the closing of config program that restarts the recording service. The two shows I want to watch are on at 11:30 pm to 12:30 pm. I'll just have to get into the habit of manually restarting the recording service before I hit the hay everynight until I get beyondtv. Sad

If you've not messed with ZProcess then... the file you mention... fmpeg.exe is a custom version of ffmpeg.exe that is, as far as I know, only for ZProcess and is not the same as the one that installs with GBPVR 99.5.

I would suggest looking very closely to insure you have the proper ffmpeg.exe in your GBPVR directory before paying for BeyondTV which is subpar (IMHO of trying it) compared to GBPVR.

Just to let you know... If you are not using ZProcess, then the default transcoder that ships with GB-PVR is 'ffmpeg.exe' (two ff) and it is about 6 Mb in size...

http://members.shaw.ca/ztest/ZProcess/fmpeg.exe this file is exactly the same file that ships with GB-PVR but it has been renamed to 'fmpeg.exe' (one f) That is for use with ZProcess (If you're not using ZProcess, then I won't get into the reason for the two different name forms..)

So if you are intending to reinstall the version that ships with GB-PVR and you have downloaded the one from my FTP server (I'm probably breaking the gnu for serving it :o ), be sure to rename the fmpeg.exe to ffmpeg.exe

Thanks for the clarification zehd, I wasn't sure that they were the same file or not.

And as you've pointed out, if ZProcess is not being used or has not ever been installed, then GBPVR expects to see a the transcode file named ffmpeg.exe (two ff's) in the Third Party/FFMpeg folder or the transcode under GBPVR will fail and in fact will cause a number of system issues with GBPVR.
