My HTPC running GBPVR is in my basement. I using a Hauppauge PVR250 card which is connected to cable TV. I would like to watch live TV on my computer in my den. I tried to demo Beyond TV but a demo version of Beyond TV link won't work with a demo version of base product. SageTV looks to have the same limitation.

I tried recording something in GBPVR and playing back the file while's it's being recorded from my den computer using Real Player or Windows Media Player. Neither worked saying the file was in use.

Now I'm wondering if I install GBPVR in my den, can I point it to the files on my HTPC and play them? Should be fairly quick to test, but I thought maybe someone might know or have some know working alternatives.

I am new to this have been trying a different app [Image: sad.gif] couldn't get tv working, is there a way of running GB PVR as an app on a second pc instead of the MVP, this works ok but I want to run it on other pcs so as to share live tv and Videos (saved as VOB - MVP wont play them [Image: sad.gif] )

cheers

I've got live tv streaming from my PVR250, but not without a lot of research and some bizarre sequeneces and combinations of software.

The high levels steps are:

1. Choose your channel via WinTV2000
2. Partially configure Windows Media Encoder
3. Configure the VLC media player version 0.7.2 (current version doesn't work)
4. Configure VLC on the client
Your streaming

I can provide more details if anyone is interested. If anyone can improve on these steps, please let me know.

Here are the details, remember this applies to version 0.7.2. Using Version 0.8.1, I get choppy sound and occasionally a picture.

I'm using Windows Media Encoder version 9

Phase 1
Open WinTV2000 and select which channel you want to watch

Phase 2
1. Open Windows Media Encoder (WME)
2. Select Broadcast a live event and press OK
3. Select your PVR250 card in the Video field.
4. Select Configure
5. Select Video Properties
6. Click OK to close that window
7. Click OK again to close that window
8. Exit out of WME

Phase 3
Open VLC
1. Select File/Streaming Wizard
2. Select 1. Open
3. Click DirectShow
4. On the line with "Video Device Name, click on Refresh list.
5. Select your Hauppuage Card
6. Select OK
7. Select how you want to stream ( I have been using UDP )
8. Click Start

Phase 4
On your client Open VLC
1 Open the network stream.
