I've just taken the plunge and upgraded from 95.10 to latest version (99.05) and because MyVideos isn't being developed any more I had to look for a plugin to replace that (MyVideos my main way of organising videos - not recordings) and I'm trying video archive.

However once I went into Videos I'm just presented with a blank couple of panes and a dancing egg timer over a couple of figures (I think it says 19/05 at the moment). Now although I can see that the second figure appears to be increasing every few minutes I have no idea what it is doing or whether it is working properly (I've been sat here for about 15 minutes now).

Before starting GBPVR I disabled the follow Video Archive options:
  • Auto-featch information from the internet for new recordings
  • Scan for files on each startup

I'm going to leave it for a few hours and see whether anything changes, my guess is it's updating the database or something. If so is there some way to give new users more information about what is happening, or set this to run when GBPVR is idle etc.?

Thanks,

-D

I've never had it take more than 30 seconds or less to scan the files. I'm suspecting something else is going on.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can look to figure out what's going on with this plugin as at the moment I don't have a decent video library plugin which is killing me after using MyVideos for the past 18 months or so.

Cheers,

If you zip up and post the *.log files from the jeff subdirectory as well as the gbpvr log directory and include your config.xml file I can take a look at it.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the offer to take a look for me, see the attached zip file for the logs.

I can't tell where exactly it is happening, but you seem to have lots of problems with your skin files. It looks like the plug-in is never fully running. Can you switch to the blue skin and try again (and reattach all the logs at that point).

Thanks

Hi Jeff, thanks for looking at the logs.

I've actually just come across another (major) problem with the install at the moment so I'm going to start from scratch again, as this new problem appears to be with the old MyVideos plugin I used to run (which is odd as it is disabled).

I'll let you know if I continue to have the problem after the re-install.

Thanks again.

Disabling a plug-in doesn't stop the dll from being loaded. GBPVR loads all the dll's in the plug-in directory to see what they are and if they should be used. Some plug-ins, like MyVideos and the Video Archive plugin, do initialization as soon as they are loaded. The only way to get my videos out it to delete the dll or rename it so the extension is no longer .dll.

I've just finished performing the re-install and configuration and everything (for the moment) appears to be working as expected, however video archive still sits with the hour glass.

I have tried the default blue skin (I am using the community skin, and the Sassari one in there) but that doesn't seem to make a difference either.

Cheers,

Can you repost the logs? The last one didn't show the video archive having completed initialization, so it would never finish finding files (since it never started).
