Sub, I know that you do not receive Closed Captions on your part of the world. You were able to add support for closed captions on Analog PVR250-350 because the Hauppauge drivers can be "tweaked" to save the CC within the MPG stream.

Now, just for clarification. I am talking about US closed captions, no DVB-S subtitles, which I believe we do not receive from Dish Network anyways.

My DVB-S Twinhan 1020 , using MyTheatre and VMR9 with an InterVideo Codec can also display closed captions that are embeded on the MPG stream directly from the incoming dishNetwork Sattelite stream. But I am sure that the location of the closed captions is different than the one from the analog sources.

If I could set up a TS Captured with the TwinHan Capture utility, say 250 MG, and put it somewhere on an ftp server, do you think you have some time to look at it and see if you can identify where Closed Captions are being sent ?

I just do not have the tools or the knowledge, but If I could find some info on it, may be there is already an utility that can extract the CC from the mpg stream and convert ti to SRT format.

It currently only supports DVB Subtitles or Teletext Subtitles via DVB-S.

Yes, in theory I could do this. I know from past experience (with the current subtitle stuff) that this stuff can be tricky and very time consuming, so not something I'll commit to adding, but I'll take a look if you supply a transport stream. It'd be a lower priority thing, but a definite "maybe".

This of course assumes they're transmitting the data as a separate stream (like they do with dvb teletext and dvb subtitles), and not just the line21 part of picture, which relies entirely on features in your TV to display.

I do not think they transmit it as a separete stream. If you look at the recorded MPG, the top line of the screen has that weird white line that looks really bad and from experience with analog, that line was the famous Line21 that you are talking about.

But the actual location of the CC data (I guess stored on the User_DATA part of the stream), is different than the one the analog recording have.

I know you are pretty busy with everything else, and really appreciate your help. I could still get you that stream if it helps you with anything else you are working now as far as DishNetwork/BEv DVB-s.

If you produce a sample transport stream I'll have a look.
