Hi,

Am trying to do a channel scan using a KWorld 300U but it's caused GB-PVR to crash & reboot on two seperate machines. Is this likely to be down to faulty hardware or possibly the BDA driver itself?.

This particular DVB-T device is mean't to be supported by GB-PVR 'off-the-shelf' as bda.ini didn't need editing so at a guess someone's managed to get this to work. Just my luck that it's causing system crashes & rebootsSad.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Does a file get created in c:\windows\minidump when this happens? or a message in the Windows event viewer?

Hi Sub, Thank you for your reply. No sooner does the channel scan get to 15 of 57 (or something like that) a reboot occurs Sad.
There are three files in c:\windows\minidump. Two of them have been created by the 300U causing a crash and reboot from what I can gather.
Any ideas why this is happening?.

Thank you.

zip and attach the minidump file you think corresponds to the crash and I'll take a look.

I take it this is a USB device? I loaded both of those dump files into the debugger, which identifies the crash occuring in some USB driver layer (usbport.sys).

I'm not sure what you'd do armed with that information though.

Hi Sub, Yes this is a USB DVB-T Device. Worth checking for updated USB drivers?. Crashes on both a MCE and XP Home Edition PC Sad.

Kind Regards.

Think that this hardware is known to cause system crashes since doing a quick google search.

Why I'd thought that buying two of these DVB-T Receivers was worth the money I do not know Sad.

Recommend strongly against buying these.

Don't think that USB drivers on two machines that work alright otherwise are the cause of these problems Sad.

Kind Regards.

I have a dvb-t 300U and found that the remote control driver will cause windows to blue screen.

I disabled it via regedit and it the crashes stopped. This will stop the remote from functioning. You should now see in Device Manager Infrared Receiver with a yellow triangle next to it

I also set ProtectNonPagedPool to 1 in the registry as I was getting MMPOOL blue screens, If you still get crashes with the IR disabled try this aswell.

Registry files attached as text files
Rename to .reg and double click to merge.

NOTE: The reg settings are for Windows XP.

NOTE2: If you are using another remote it may have the ability to turn the 300U off and thus cause failed recordings and upset the recording service. My Cyberlink remote is able to do this if the "OK" key is pressed several times in fairly quick succession.

So if you intend to use another remote you will probably need to test for this.

Cover up the IR sensor or put the 300U out of sight, preferably both.
