I found the Hauppauge remote can also upset the Kworld 300u usb device.
But I didn't seem to get the crashes mentioned.

I disabled it via regedit and it the crashes stopped. This will stop the remote from functioning. You should now see in Device Manager Infrared Receiver with a yellow triangle next to it

I also set ProtectNonPagedPool to 1 in the registry as I was getting MMPOOL blue screens, If you still get crashes with the IR disabled try this aswell.

Registry files attached as text files
Rename to .reg and double click to merge.

NOTE: The reg settings are for Windows XP.

NOTE2: If you are using another remote it may have the ability to turn the 300U off and thus cause failed recordings and upset the recording service. My Cyberlink remote is able to do this if the "OK" key is pressed several times in fairly quick succession.

So if you intend to use another remote you will probably need to test for this.

Cover up the IR sensor or put the 300U out of sight, preferably both.

Hi, Thank you for your reply regarding the KWorld 300U. Much appreciated. Shall follow your recommendations and post back on this thread.

Guess that XP MCE works pretty much the same way as XP where the regedit is concerned?. Thought that I'd better ask prior to making any changes.

Regedit hacks shouldn't need to be done however if this is likely to get the two KWorld 300U DVB-T Receivers that I'd bought from savastore.com to work that'd be appreciated as RMAing is not something I'm keen on considering they charge a testing fee. Knowing my luck they'd return the RMA'd items saying that they do work with a registry hack Sad.

Thank you.
Kind Regards.

Hi Martin, Thank you for your reply. I'm using a Hauppauge Media MVP however drivers for this were uninstalled. However thinking about it I'd tried a KWorld 300U on both XP MCE machine and XP Home Edition machine and the latter installation didn't have a Hauppauge Media MVP in use.

Wonder how you've managed to get your KWorld 300U to work satisfactorily without any registry hacks?.
(lucky you Smile).

Kind Regards.

I can't recall having to do anything really. I think the drivers on the supplied CD worked better than downloaded updates.

I never managed to get any EPG data from it though either with their app or gbpvr, but I didn't try hard as I'm using the Radio Times / xmltv EPG.

I think the problem with these devices may be dependant on the usb chipset in use.

I have a Via based m/b with Via usb.

martint123 is running a P4 so I'd guess it's on an Intel chipset.

martint123 What version of the BDA driver are you running ?

daviescr1 what chipsets are the machines you tested using ?

It's a pity it seems to have trouble with some usb chipsets as it a good device, almost as sensitive as my Nova-t Stick. I suspect that a driver update might be able to fix this issue but Kworld are unlikely to do so.

AFAIK MCE should have the same registry settings as XP, it is just XP plus the media center app.

Also something I tried was to disable signal level checks in GBPVR, I don't know if it helps but as I seem to have things working ATM I'm not keen to change things.

In Config.xml

<BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording>0</BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording>

The default value is 30, 0 disables it.

SIS 661FX chipset
Drivers - not sure now as upgraded to nova-t-500 for dual tuners. CD states DVB-T 300U_V3.11

If I get chance I'll re-install in the morning and edit this post with the device manager version.

No need to install just locate the file modbda2.sys on the CD and its properties will give the version number.

It's 2.0.0.12 in my case.

V3.11 sound more like the DVB application version number.

Hi, Thank you for your reply.

Chipsets that are in use are as follows:
(Tried bda driver supplied on CD-Rom and downloaded from KWorld web-site)

Pentium-D PC: Intel 82801GB USB2 Controller (usbehci.sys).
Pentium-4 PC: Intel 82801EB USB2 Controller (usbehci.sys).

Hope that I'd interpreted these details correctly.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Kind Regards.

Hi, Thank you. Shall try to get KWorld 300U up and running again Wed afternoon 10th Jan and post back here.

Added a PCI USB Adapter am wondering whether the chipset is any different and is less problematic. Shall check and post back here. (CMD USB0673 PCI to USB Open Host Controller from eBuyer).

Kind Regards.
