If the WMA's have Digital Rights Management (DRM) then they will not play....Did you create them yourself or did you buy them on-line such as Napster?

Non Of my WMA files have DRM. I can play the files locally in VLC on the both the server and the client I just can't stream them from one to the other.
Try to steam one and then go to the following directory....and then dig down into the subdirectories until you find the one that contains the gbpvrpublic.dll. You should see a log file in the directory....or if you are using GBPVR 99.05 you will see a logs directory that you should go under to get to the log file.
Code:
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\gbpvr\4d107d39\801bf7b5\assembly\dl3
Open the log file and look for the line where it is starting VLC....should look something like below:
Code:
1/7/2007 3:39:01 PM.579 INFO [13] ***********************
1/7/2007 3:39:01 PM.579 INFO [13] File Name Deserialized: \\Naslite-smbg\Disk-3\My Music\The Grateful Dead\Dick's Picks, Vol. 10 Disc 1\01 Jack Straw.wma

Also....are you transcoding it when playing or are you trying to stream it in wma format as well?

I checked the log file as you suggested and everything looked in order. So then I Started changing my Audio transcoding settings to see if I could get it to work and low and behold changing the number of Audio channels from 1 to 2 solved the problem.
So basically WMA files won't stream if you have audio channels set to 1 but MP3 files will.
Maybe someone else could check this to confirm but it definitely solved my problem.
Interesting....worked for me....perhaps it has something to do with the version of WMA it is recorded in or the settings on the WMA recording or the version of VLC (are you using the latest one?) or a combination.
Glad you got it figured out though.....
