I have just recently completed a clean install of windows xp due to hard drive issues, and have successfully set up and tested gbpvr. I have a pvr150 for basic cable and an avermedia a180 for OTA HD.

I tested both cards and have managed to record / watch live tv using both.

I have just started to see the recording service crash with a psiparser error shown in event viewer when trying to record HD. I have not as yet tested this on all OTA HD channels. Any ideas as to what is causing the error?

Seeing as I have not checked this problem on all channels, could this be related to signal strength??

recording service logs and event viewer jpg attached

Machine spec is an AMD Atlon 64 3400+ with 1 gb RAM twin 500gb WD drives

Do you get a file created in c:\windows\minidump when this crash occurs? If so, zip and attach it please.

The error is occuring because GB-PVR doesnt like, or is missinterpreting, something in the stream being broadcast.

I did not get anything in windows\minidump....but did find some dmp files under D:\Documents and Settings\Rob\Local Settings\Temp\WERca74.dir00

D: is my system drive

As a note, I have just tried recording off 2 seperate OTA HD channels and both cause a failure, though strangely I could not see any dump files for either of these.

I didn't mention I am in the USA...if you hadn't figured that out already.

I am having a problem attaching the zip file around 7mb

let me know if you think these files will be useful...and we can arrange some other way to get them to you

I got you dump files, but unfortunately it doesnt identify the cause.

How long does it take to crash? Is it pretty much straight away? If so, do you have any software that will record a full transport stream file?

It happens within minutes of the recording starting...what would I need to record a transport stream file?

It kind of varies from card to card. Some manufacturer provide utilities for this (like twinhan etc), but I'm not sure when it comes to Avermedia.

I think you could also use TSReader (not free) or maybe dvbstreamexplorer (http://dvbstreamexplorer.dk/dvbstreamexplorer.php), but I'm not sure whether than one handles ATSC - probably not going by the name.

sub, I've spent some time playing with tsreader and it seems to have an option to record the mux. in an MPEG 2 format. Is that what you are looking for? forgive my ignorance.

I've never done this in TSReader myself, so I'm not really sure what menu options to use. It should create a pretty massive file though. If its about 250MB for a minute, then its probably the correct type of file.

I'm thinking about asking you to record a few big files and throw them on a few DVDs or CDs and mail them to me. Would you be up for this? I'm kind of lacking good recent sample ATSC HDTV transport stream files for my testing.

yeah no problem...I'm just not sure what I am doing with tsreader at this point. to me it looks like the option to record mux is the one we want, would it help if I try and record a few seconds worth and upload to the ftp...then at least you can tell me if they are the files you are looking for?

I just tried this record mux option for 1 minute and ended up with a file size of around 140mb....this is for OTA with around 15 active channels...I think

Anyone else care to chime in on how to do this with tsreader
