Quote:Okay, I have it working with streaming now, though the stream is struggling a little. I get some dropped frames and occasionally frozen video for a second or two. Are there pointers somewhere for smoothing that out?

GBPVRRecordingService.exe on the server is never using more that 5% of CPU. Is this the process that's sending the video? I have a gigabit connection between the server and client. The client has a 2GHz Pentium M and dual monitors. The video on the original window is very choppy, which is not a problem but might be a symptom of something. The full-screen video on the second monitor is pretty good, but still drops frames. Should I expect some limit for the stream speed and adjust the capture bit rate until it's smooth?
I dont know. Nothing springs to mind.

Quote:Another question: With the client machine using streaming, are the local Directories used at all or are they now irrelevant?
Yes, they're still used for the video/music/photo library.

sorry to bring up such an old thread, but WIKI is still not updated. Just wanted to verify the following:

1 - The only thing that needs done on the "server" is to create a shared folder for the C:\program files\devnz\gbpvr folder? (called GBPVR)

2 - client should be pointed to \\ServerPcName\gbpvr with streaming prefered over file sharing?

3 - Saw something somewhere about upgrading the database for better preformance... is this still recommended.. i find it awful dificult to figure out what is current and what is old.

Am I allowed/supposed to play with the wiki documentation?

And enter the other folders you use: recordings dir, video dir in the resp. boxes.

Yes streaming works best often I think, but you might try out the other one, won't hurt.Smile

Yes that's recommended, the new database (gbpvr.db3) works better in this situation. Run the changedatabase util from your gbpvr install dir, if you're not alraedy using sqlite ofcourse.

Afaik you're welcome to do so. I think you've to contact blader_se for that:

file sharing gets you faster response during navigation (skip for/backward), if you don't have problems with your connection (about 10MBit should be enough for SDTV, HDTV i dunno), you're better of with file sharing. if you use MS-DVR you don't have a choice, streaming wont work
