Okay, recorded a new episode of "Grey's Anatomy" tonight, and watched it on MVP.

It had finished recording an hour before I watched it, and I could see the commercials on the timeline when I hit the blue button on my MVP remote.

The commercials would not skip, and hitting play and toggling '999' made no difference. I ended up having to skip (>|) thru all the commercials, as if the comskip data was not available.

Afterwards, I pulled up the show on GBPVR on my computer, and the commercial skip was working fine on this show.

Is this strictly an MVP issue? I never watch TV on my computer, so I have no idea if this problem occurs if watching via GBPVR. The last time I found myself with a disfunctional comskipping program I simply moved it and the comskip files to my video directory and it played with commercial skip just fine. (via MVP)

Anybody experience this? What's up with comskip?

A year or so ago i had the same problem, sometimes GBpvr would use the comskip file, other times not. I never did really get it to work reliably. What i ended up doing was running comclean on those files and turning off all the commercial skipping settings in GBpvr. Now I don't have to worry about it skipping, there is nothing to skip. Smile

Okay, I cleared my logs, and pulled up the show on the MVP that wouldnt skip the commercials. Once it played thru it's first commercial, I shut it down and zipped the logs. I also zipped the comskip files.

The comskip skips like it should for me on most recorded shows. Maybe 1 out of 20 or so don't. This was the most recent.

Actually, ignore that. I was thinking it might have been the PVR150 timestamp bug confusing things, but on second thoughts I dont think so.

Okay, I just spent some time testing this recording. I was a bit surprised at the result. I made a copy of it in my video library, and found that 3 out of 4 times I brought it up, the comskip functioned.

Then I went back to the recordings and on my 3rd try bringing it up, the comskip functioned.

I also tried bringing this recording up on my PC via GBPVR instead of my MVP, and the comskip functioned properly each time.

This recording begins with a comskip on the first (1) frame. Might it be a timing issue? I tried removing the first skip (1-1940) and checked the recording three times on my MVP and the comskip functioned correctly for the remaining skips.

I've got an idea on what the cause is.

I suspect you'll find it works more reliably if you set the comskip.ini setting so that it produces a .edl file aswell.
