It has probably ac3 sound, so you need an ac3 encoder. AC3-filter (free, google for it) will do. Or if you install powerdvd or windvd you should be fine to I guess.

Would Nero Work? I also tried one avi and it worked then I used auto gk and create another one and It didn't I guess that is something in the settings I messed up on the compress.

I don't know if nero will play it, try it out. Does nero play dvd's?
You can use Gspot to find out what codecs are needed for any video/audio file. http://gspot.headbands.com/ For the Vob I'd really install AC3-filter. Works great.

Just saw in another post that you could use ffdshow aswell. It needs a bit more configuring I think, it's known for giving problems sometimes. Maybe with the later versions that improved.

I downloaded it and works great thanks so much. Now I just need to find a better way to crunch it down. Any suggestions I uses DVD Decrypter and then AutoGK to compress it to a .AVI file. Anyone know of any better ways to do this?

You might want to check out www.videohelp.com , they have an awful lot of info. I recently read someone used virtualdumod and x264-encoder. Seemed very happy with it. But I'm sure there are a lot more possibilities.
DVDdecrypter is good because it can write the dvd to one vob-file. Virtualdub(mod) always worked very good for me. I hope for you you get more and better advice than this

Anyone know of any better ways to do this? When you say crunch it down, you mean the AutoGK output file size? If so, just select a file size for the output and it will run with those options. You might check the advanced options and make sure that the audio output is not set to AC3, which takes up more space than a MP3 re-encode the same audio track (224 - 448 kbps vs 96-192 kbps) (you can set it to auto - which chooses bitrates, fornats based on how big the output is selected for and how much the video will compress) You can set it use a constant bitrate, or have it do a VBR at whatever rate you want. Thanks
