Hi Sub,

I am having an issue that I can see has plagued a few other people on this forum, but alas none of the fixes work for me.

I get awful playback of LiveTV, really jerky in both video and audio, but I have tried all the suggestions to fix it. I can play back recordings perfectly, so I have rounded the issue down to the GBPVRParser.ax file. Here's what I've tried so far:

- LiveTV pre-delay to 4000ms in config
No change.

- Lower filter priority in Radlight to 'do not use'
No change

- Uncheck 'use live preview mode if possible'
No change

- Unregister GBPVRParser.ax
unable to watch TV, error 'Error: playing back file'. Attached is GBPVR.exe-native.log,txt from this attempt. It looks like it doesn't want to think about any other demux.

- Set config buffers in XML
<ClientModeCachedReadSize>65536</ClientModeCachedReadSize>
<ClientModeLiveTVPrePlayDelay>4000</ClientModeLiveTVPrePlayDelay>
no change, settings ignored?

- Wireless network checkup: connect with wires
no change

I think I've done everything I have read up to change, can you suggest anything more? Many thanks in advance.

'kay, i have the same issue & can provide additional input, maybe that will help. i wasn't sure anybody else had the same problem, almost every other support request with client problems was somehow kind of different.
with version 0.98.8b my client/server setup was working ok, no stuttering on the client or any other serious issues. after the update to 0.99.5, live tv or playback of still recorded shows on a client is impossible. finished recordings are ok on playback. hard wired network by the way. no software updates or decoder/mux changes in between, server is still configured just as under 0.98.8b

i have tried allmost the same things as you have, in addition i've tried:
- different codecs (GPLMPEG, cyberlink, nero) for playback, all behaved a little bit different but even with changes they all keept stuttering.
- no difference between streaming or net share.
- tried to play back current recording with other player. guess what: media player quits with an error (no wonder Wink), VLC plays back with no problem...
- ClientModeLiveTVPrePlayDelay with 0 or 600 or 4000
- LiveTVPrePlayDelay to 0 or 600 with no change in playback

i've done every change as a simple step, it seems to have something to do with either <ClientModeLiveTVPrePlayDelay> (that's been added to 0.99.5) or with an change in either GBPVRParser.ax or the way it's used.

i've planned to move back to 0.98.8b next weekend just to prove to myself that it really worked there with no problem

Can you see if running ReRegisterFilters.bat helps?

The problem you're seeing there is the result of deliberately unregistering the filter, so yes re-registering it puts me back in the position of having really jerky video/audio.

You're not using a wireless network, or homeplug powerline ethernet?

can't say for kenwonders, but i'm using normal ethernet cat5, i would go so far as to rule out any network / firewall issues, there is no problem on playback of finished recordings / playback through VLC of currently recorded shows also works fine.
did you change anything in GBPVRParser.ax between 0.98.8b & 0.99.5?

Usually wireless, but I've just repeated my earlier test over a wired ethernet connection on the same hub as the server. It is a tiny bit less jerky, but still completely unusable. This is all with the same laptop and same setup.

I really can't work this one out. I can stream HDTV via SMB to this machine on the wireless connection, and anything from GB-PVR recordings/videos, just not live TV.

Yes, bound to of - it changes in most releases, but nothing I cant think of which would cause your problem.

zip and attach the client and server logs and I'll take a look.
