Digital sound

When I watch a regular DVD my amp has a purple light to indicate that it's in Digital sound mode..

I'm wondering what codecs any one here is using to obtain digital sound with their recordings?

Windows XP w/SP2
Haup 150 [NON mce card]
Internal sound
ATI Video Card
Ilo 32" LCD HDTV

Your amp is probably recognizing DTS as digital, direct from a DVD. GBPVR is probably playing using the AC3 codec, which can be DD5.1 or even DD6.x but your amp won't "see" it as digital, because it's being rendered by software.
All audio from a computer is digital...
