Has anyone tried the new Hauppauge drivers for the 150 found here?

http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/s...vr150.html

It is now an 'all in one' install and they don't list the versions of the apps/drivers that are included. Just wondering if anyone has seen/installed/played with the new setup and if there is anything new/better/different???

Thanks

Siince we got a new bigger TV, I have had a curvy line on the side of my screen which I suspect is the cause, so I tried to install the new drivers.

1st potential problem, when it says "Run HCWCLEAR.EXE and choose the options Remove All WinTV Drivers and Applications (Total Removal) and Search All .INF Files for Conflicting Hardware", it means click both options at the same time (no second chance available). I am so used to only being allowed one choice at a time, I assumed I could do the search thing second.

2nd potential problem. The logic of the instructions seems unclear to me. Add new software, delete all software then reboot. I was wondering how the remove program would know how to not remove the new software and sure enough, when I rebooted, the found new hardware wizard couldn't find the wintv drivers it was looking for and wants the initial CD. The problem is that the initial CD doesn't have the new drivers.

I think that you need to do instruction 2 before instruction 1 but as of yet, I have just restored the system (hopefullY) and wait for advice before trying again.

Fails dismally if you have two different Hauppauge cards though. Each one tells you to run hcwclear this removes all Hauppauge software, not just for the card you are installing. Cue endless loop.

Not tried them as very happy with v108. The differences though over 108 don't make me feel it necessary to try.

I would suggest getting your Hauppauge drivers from here http://www.shspvr.com/smf/

They are more complete & newer (don't ask me how, but they are) with a good support level. Which is a hell of a lot more than can be said for the Hauppauge homepage.

hmm, I wonder if that is something lots of US based users haved been asking for, specifically ClosedCaptions embedded in the MPEG stream, which was previously only available with PVR250/350.

It even sounds like they might work on win2k. The Hauppauge site doesn't list win2k as supported on the latest set.
Does this mean there might be a chance GBPvr will support CC for the 150?

Could you be more specific, better in what sense? were you have particular issues that are now resolved or has it provided you with better quality image or additional features?

I am interested to see if its worth changing. I dont believe I have a particular issue that I am aware of that is being caused by my 150 drivers but I'm open to learning otherwise :-)

Cheers

[EDIT]
I have just seen your support thread regarding the black screen and I assume that is what you mean by its better.
