Does this mean there might be a chance GBPvr will support CC for the 150?
No more than it does with the PVR250/350, but even this very basic support is more functional than the no CC support that PVR150 previously had.

With the PVR250/350, recordings will automatically include CC data in the MPEG2 stream if it was present. If you then playback one of those files, and are using the Intervideo decoder and VMR9 renderer, then you'll see CC data overlaid on the video. There is no way to toggle it on or off.

Wouldn't this require the line21 decoder connection to be made to the vmr9 input, or does this already happen for the 250/350 in GBPVR? I know this is naive but wouldn't breaking that connection enable/disable CC support?

Yes, this happens when you using the VMR9 renderer with the Intervideo decoder.

Yes, but would also require stopping and restarting graph. It doesnt do this though.

Its only available in playback of recordings, not during live tv.

I think they may be primarily targetin issues with the Vista drivers with this new release. So, those of you that say that it works the same, this could be an explanation. As for those who say that it doesn't work well... I don't know. I have the previous Vista drivers and I'm a little dissatisfied, so I look forward to trying these.

That would be somewhat cumbersome since it seems the only workaround is to set a config setting before you play the file, which wouldn't make a smooth way to toggle them on/off.

NVidia Pure Video decoder has a line 21 decoder as well. Has it been tested with this and shown to not decode the CC's?

What prevents it from working in live mode? Isn't the encoder/decoder still in the loop?

The VMR9 + Intervideo think was some special code I wrote a very long time ago. The same logic isnt applied to any other decoder/renderer combination.

Its pretty much just code I havnt written. In theory it could be done for live tv, but given I have no easy way to develop/test that feature it wasnt something I did.

gkar Wrote:I would suggest getting your Hauppauge drivers from here http://www.shspvr.com/smf/

They are more complete & newer (don't ask me how, but they are) with a good support level. Which is a hell of a lot more than can be said for the Hauppauge homepage.

What is the version, file name?... anything you could offer would help greatly.

Makes sense since you have no NTSC source material for CCs. I certainly would be happy to let you have remote access into my machine if you ever want to give it a go. I know that's not the easiest way to develop code.

To be honest, I'm probably not going to be making any changes to the CC support any time soon - its just too much of a pain in the butt with no way to test, and while some people would like it I dont thinks a feature high on everybodies priority list.

Not enough people watching tv late at night and trying not to wake the kids!
I can understand the need to set priorities. Time is a resource we never have enough of.
If you change your mind, the offer to remote in is always there.
