there is no problem with the six missing pixels, and that is completely standard, every panel with that resolution loses those six pixels when used with VGA

including mine

Thanks.
I didn't think so but those posting about the 6 pixel difference seemed determined to do something about it. Smile

mvandere Wrote:Is there really that much difference between SD and HD? I know when I recorded SD and HD content and compared it on my PC the difference was obvious, but when I did the same thing on my HD panel, with all its inherent 'reprocessing', I could barely spot the difference. Maybe it's the difference between the cheapies and the goodies
I'd say there is a huge difference between analogue (SD) and digital (still SD) content on my HD screen. I still (yet?) don't have any HD content to compare with, though. But I'm quite happy with the quality of digital SD. Analogue SD looks worse on my HD screen than it did on my old analogue tv, but nowadays we don't get any analogue broadcasts around here anymore, so... Smile

Ya think soaps have a problem?
I heard the adult film industry is giving a lot of work to cosmetic surgeons because of HD.

We were flipping between directv SD & on-air antenna for superbowl & the SD looked... not nearly as good.

I've heard Directv HD referred to as HD-Lite because they have compressed the heck out of the signal.

During football season they had to kill one of their HD channels on Sunday nights so they had enough bandwidth to show the football game.

their throwing a couple more sats. up there so maybe they will ease up on their compression.

We turned into HD snobs during the superbowl.
We laughed at commercials that were broadcast in a lowly 480i. Smile

mvandere Wrote:Which raises the issue, 'Analogue is Analogue', 'Digital is "how much compression do you want with that Sir?"'. As more and more stuff becomes digital you start to notice differing compression rates (and hence quality) all over the place. I guess one day they will settle on a consistent standard.
I doubt it. I am sure whoever has more money to spend or has a picky audience will have the better signal.

Very funny. Goes to show we don't need all of the details.

May I suggest monoprice.com for low cost hdmi-hdmi and hdmi-dvi cables. A fraction of the cost store bought ones. I have both types and are just as good as name brand.
